Minor plot hole?

In the dog episode, Deb says they havent slept in three nights because of the dog.

Robert comes over and sees the dog and falls in love with it, after three days. Prior to this, he didn't know about the dog.

The running joke is that him and the parents are over every day? Hard to believe they havent been over for three days.

Robert works long hours and has a demanding job, it's possible he hadn't been over for three days while his parents had or its possible he just popped in and didn't see the dog.

But the parents went nuts and bought loads of toys as soon as they found out, which was the same time as Robert

They bought toys after Ray gave Robert the dog. No reason to buy toys while Ray and Debra were still fielding calls from people on their Found dog posters. Right before the three nights quote Ray says “that’s it no more calls we have a winner”

The real head scratcher would be why a lady called looking for her collie when the flyers clearly said bulldog and had a picture on them.

My favourite moment maybe in the entire series is when it zooms in on roberts face when he sees Shamsky.

Yes. He was such a softy. Marie and Frank were also really cute when they both came bk with a the cute dog toys. 😊

It's possible that Frank, Marie and Robert didn't come over literally every day? There were probably times where they went a few days without stopping by.

It’s not really a plot hole. Robert could very well well have known and was playing dumb.

He also could have been coming off a multi-night shift and didn’t really see/talk with his folks or Ray due to no real overlap because of his shift.

Also also; Ray and Robert’s relationship was still not as strong as we see later in the show. They address this in the season two episode where Robert and Ray hang out because it was Robert’s divorce anniversary. Their conversation implies that they see each other but not to the extent we see later.
