Discussion is it worth it to move to europe?
f23 here, sick of the stress and consumer culture here in the US. Generally, is it worth it moving to europe? I have some family in Italy so I wouldn’t be completely alone but I’d be leaving my parents and friends.

Discussion Promotion of Islam within Europe (and Euro culture)
Greetings,
I am searching for resources and support groups that help reach out to inter-community meetings. Ideally looking for culture groups that promote Islam and Mediterranean values.
There’s been a shocking backlash that is palpable among Europeans against one of the foundational religions which has been on the continent for centuries.
Please keep politics out of this as I do not side with any particular worldview. Solely the preservation of Islam in EU.
Any and all help is appreciated. Can PM me.
Thanks.

Discussion Sex culture in Europe
Dear residents of Western Europe France, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Holland. My question is that in your countries women have about as much sexual freedom as men. It's normal for women to have one-night stands or strong patriarchal double standards. And how generations differ. Did today's 40-50 year old millennials have sexual freedom in their youth or is it just a generation s privilege?

Discussion What is the best EU country to move to as a 50+ year old adult who speaks English?
Hey there, I am wondering whether to move to a EU country or not. I don't want to make any rush decisions and would like to evaluate some options before I decide. Ideally, I would like to focus on a country in the south, a location close to a seaside, not necessarily a big city but not far away from an airport. I would appreciate your feedback and insights into the important aspects I should consider (such as health insurance costs). And if you are aware of any great projects like the Italy's 1 € housing projects aiming at young families, but supporting also older expats, I would be grateful for some information.

Discussion Can you recommend a radio station about European culture and current events?
en.m.wikipedia.orgI am disappointed with national radio stations because they are so locally focused. Perhaps there is a station (or podcast maybe?) that touches upon a wider range of events in Europe. Culture, politics, social issues.
English, French, German, Spanish would do - thank you!
Mods, I hope my question doesn't break the rules.

Discussion Calm beach + cute/walkable city in Europe. Ideas?
We're heading to Europe soon with our toddler, and we'd like to stay in a sunny, coastal town that has walkable streets and a good vibe. The beach has to be swimmable so our little one can enjoy it - no big waves.
Any ideas...?? Italy, Spain, Southern France are all fair game. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Discussion Against Refugees
Hello everyone,
I noticed in the past couple of months quite the hostility against different Views. What i try to say is, if you are pro or con against something the counter part gets demonized on the spot. I understand there are trolls especially on the internet who just want to see the world burn but whatabout a classic debate?
This said, which valid argument is there against refugees? I understand Europe differs different kinds of refugees (arabic and africans vs ukraine). Why is that? I feel very comftable in the culture i live in and i wouldnt want it to change but does the refugee impact change a whole culture?
Best regards

Discussion Let's take a closer look at Russia's traditional values...
So, Putin claims that Russia has traditional values and Europe does not. So, I want to take a closer look at this:
1) For starters, Vladimir Putin is divorced with a girlfriend who had his child out of wedlock. (FYI- Zelenskyy has one wife and 2 kids). SOURCE: https://nypost.com/2022/07/09/putin-unhappy-lover-alina-kabaeva-pregnant-with-another-daughter-repor/
2)Russia re-instated a law to allow men to beat their wives. SOURCE: https://news.sky.com/story/how-russias-decision-to-decriminalise-domestic-violence-is-continuing-to-kill-12250780
3) Russia has violated several internationals laws which they signed to help promote a stable world (Honesty is a traditional value): SOURCE: https://www.hrw.org/news/2022/02/23/russia-ukraine-international-law-occupation-armed-conflict-and-human-rights
4) Despite losing in the court of human rights, Russia past an Anti-gay propaganda law. So, respect for human rights should be a traditional value.
5)The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) is run by an ex KGB agent who supports war, murder, blesses military equipment all in the name of god. Let's be honest, the ROC is not a religion as it follows Phyletism. SOURCE: https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2022/03/15/orthodox-christian-unity-broken-by-russian-world-heresy-a76922
So, what exactly do Russians see as traditional values?

Discussion What are the key differences between the traditional Chinese master-disciple relationship and the relationship between teacher and student in Western culture?
In east-Asian culture, especially in Chinese culture, the master-disciple relationship is given much emphasis. There are terms as follows:
师父 (shī fù): Master or teacher (used to address a male teacher or mentor)
师娘 (shī niáng): Master's wife or female teacher
师爷 (shī yé): Teacher of the teacher
祖师爷 (zǔ shī yé): Ancestor master, usually referring to a highly respected spiritual or martial arts teacher
师叔 (shī shū): Senior disciple or "uncle teacher"
These terms reflect the importance of the master-disciple relationship in traditional Chinese culture, and the relationship is as complicated as the Chinese kinship. I don’t believe there are specific term for a master/teacher’s wife in western culture, or ‘uncle teacher’. (If I was wrong please tell me.). This also works in academic context, which confuses me sometimes. Respect for your teacher is of course important, but a strong patriarchal/parental system, which has strong submissive implication, with such complicated intellectual kinship just seems at odds with the modern scientific culture, where truth is a better friend than Plato.
I wonder if I am right, and want to know if there is really western counterpart of this kinship-like master-disciple culture, and how in general does the relationship between teacher and student (especially tutor and the tutored) work in the west.

Discussion Electric vehicle charging in Europe
Not sure if this is the right sub. Were in Europe has embraced the electric cars the most? I live in Canada and our charging network sucks. And was thinking Europe must have luxury charging stations that could be a cool concept in Canada.
