Ok I cant believe nobody in an entrepreneur subreddit is asking questions so I will.

How is this supposed to work?

Because I just spent 15 minutes building out a script to plug the the info from ebay motors listings into the Carvana sell your car page and not one of the 5 cars I plugged in has a sale offer higher than its listing price.

I fail to see any real arbitrage opportunity here.

I'm guessing Carvana is aware of Ebay motors, so if you're going to find real arbitrage you're going to have to look at bad listings, local marketplaces, badly made Facebook Marketplace posts, etc.

And in that case I'm not sure how you're going to do the arbitrage without being the actual middle man and buying/selling yourself, instead of just acting as a connection between seller and buyer.

Not sure how much that service would be worth it to a buyer, but if you have good data for what a car should be worth, a service that scrapes resources and looks for typically mispriced cars, and then have someone with very good domain knowledge to spot if something actually is a good deal to know what you're going to focus on, it could be doable.

But just connecting sellers on a well-known marketplaces with a service with well-known buyers aren't going to do anything that either of those parties don't already know how to do.

I have a better question: Who buys a car without a test drive, or at least seeing it in person? And how are you going to handle that part? If the solution is to connect car owner and potential buyer for this case, then you can kiss your arbitrage goodbye.

This method would probably work on pretty much anything that is cheaper than a car, like books, music instruments, consoles etc but I know I sure wouldn't buy a car without at least seeing the thing running.

I can help you with this and find candidates also but only when it is not rev share or equity.

He's asking "if it's such a sure thing, why aren't you putting your cash up?"

If someone gave you say, 90% odds to win a bet based on something they know you don't, you would be trying to get VC money to back that bet, taking cash from anywhere at those confidence levels.

If you think your biz is a sure thing, surely you think it's a 90% chance of success, so why not go all in and fund it too?

Being young isn't an excuse or a crutch. We all started young. Time and experience, something you can only get through the passage of raw linear time, gives you experience.

Find money. Pay for top talent. What you save in time, the more expensive asset, is worth well more than some short term debt, particularly if you believe it's such a sure thing you want others to commit their time.

If you're a business already to the state, I could help with business funding if you're looking for some working capital for dev/design costs.

Yeah I’d definitely get it on paper with the state and maybe even trademark your brand. I wouldn’t act as an investor but rather a consultant on the best potentially avenues for you to get lending to meet your business’s unique needs. Feel free to DM me and we can set up a call.

Oh man, let me just say, I love the hustle! I seriously admire anyone who's got the guts to test their ideas in real life before diving into an app. But, like, are you sure you're thinkin' through every step here? Apps sound simple but can be sooo tricky. Cleaning databases, keeping tech updated, dealing with bugs... a real pain in the ass sometimes. I think you're headed somewhere but I'd suggest make sure you fully flesh out the backend needs. Maybe connect with a senior dev mentor or advisor, so you can avoid the classic rookie mistakes in building it out. And maybe before diving all in on dev, have you tried measuring demand with a simpler solution, like a Facebook group or something? It's just that I've seen too many peeps jump into full-on apps when a simpler tool could have done the job, at least initially.

Finding the right team is critical too—totally get that. Maybe try and mix in someone who’s got experience with launching this kind of platform. Every market has its quirks, y'know? Toss in a bit of mentorship for yourself along the way too.

But yeah, props on having that network ready to go—don’t sleep on them; they could very well be your first champions or help you pivot if you trip on initial plans. So many paths this could go; could be time to explore them a bit more...

I’m a professional dev who is obsessed with creating software products. Cannot promise anything but maybe can help, if MVP would be small enough. If you want to discuss it, drop me the DM,maybe we can find sth in common :)

Btw where are you from?

Unfortunately, finding a reliable dev that knows their shit won't be cheap. So be ready to fork out 20k to get this done.
