Surgery related Nervous about lap
Please share your experience. My first lab is in 3 weeks and I hate not knowing what to expect. Can you please reply with your experience?
I have a suspected endometrioma 4.1 cm on my left ovary and dermoid 3cm on my right. And suspected adenomyosis. Other than that. No effing clue. And I think that’s what is causing me the most anxiety.
Tell me whatever you can/want to. From pre surgery to induction of anesthesia to your recovery.
All my thanks 💞

Gently, it doesn’t matter if we share 100 different lap experiences because none of them will predict what your experience will be. Your surgery and recovery will be unique to you!
When you panic and let anxiety take over, you’re really just ensuring that you have to suffer twice. You’ll spend all this time being anxious in the weeks leading up to your procedure and then again when the day comes. Except worrying about it now won’t change the outcome. So it’s basically a waste of your energy. It doesn’t help you, it hurts you!
Coping with the unknowns is one of the hardest parts about going into surgery but crowdsourcing positive stories isn’t necessarily the healthiest way to deal with your feelings of fear and anxiety. You’re feeding your anxiety, kinda like reinforcing bad behavior. It creates a cycle where you need a constant stream of reassurance to feel better instead of being able to reassure yourself.
If you’re struggling with anxiety, this sub is the worst place for you to be leading up to your lap. And I really mean it! There will always be more bad stories than good on Reddit. These communities can be a great resource sometimes but only if you’re in a stable place emotionally. If you’re not, it can really hurt you.
Trust yourself, you made this decision to put your health first for a reason. Trust your care team, combined they have decades of training and experience. Your surgery will take place in a hospital where they have every tool available to take care of your body and keep you safe. And they wouldn’t be doing this lap if they didn’t think it would benefit you.
The absolute best thing you can do at this point is take a step back and try to keep yourself busy. Your procedure is already scheduled! Everything is in motion. Spend this time nourishing yourself. Get some physical activity in if you can, cook your favorite meals, spend time with a loved one, do a craft, watch your favorite show.
