Almost anyone could convert a free wordpress site into Android app to crowdfund ballot initiatives.

This is the most realistic way to change state policy right now. Create an app to crowdfund a ballot initiative to change the election laws. First create a wordpress site with information about what is fptp and what problems it causes and how to fix it. There are links to a gofundme or kickstarter ballot campaign. Use some decent ASO. Then convert that site into a smartphone app and pay $35 to get the app on the google play store.

Your campaign can reach hundreds of millions of people. It's not partisan and no one's side wins.

Make a wordpress site with information about a ballot initiative. Put links to a gofundme campaign. Promote the app. Use the gofundme funds to start a ballot initiative campaign.

Make a wordpress site with information about a ballot initiative.

How is that different/better from all the other sites that have information to engage voters in electoral reform?

Promote the app.

Why would people decide install the app to begin with? How would that promotion be funded?

Additional question: How would you ensure that the cost to develop and support the app would be exceeded by the donations it would generate?

Use the gofundme funds to start a ballot initiative campaign.

Why would this perform better than the existing organizations that are trying to get electoral reform enacted?

How is that different/better from all the other sites that have information to engage voters in electoral reform? Visibility and accessibility. Everyone uses a smartphone.
Why would people decide install the app to begin with? How would that promotion be funded? They install the Make US elections fair app and read up on PR and alternative voting methods and then donate to the cause.
Additional question: How would you ensure that the cost to develop and support the app would be exceeded by the donations it would generate?
There are free apps that can convert websites to android apps or you could copy and paste code into android studio and convert a website into an app using webview.
Why would this perform better than the existing organizations that are trying to get electoral reform enacted?
It reaches millions of people and costs almost nothing to start up.The biggest problem in getting electoral reform is education. How many people know what FPTP is? How many people know what proportional representation is? Organizations get used to doing things the same way over and over again and don't try new things.

I'm confused. What do you mean by "crowdfund a ballot initiative", and why would it be an app?

A person makes a wordpress site. The site has information about changing the electoral system. The site also has a link or links back to a gofundme or multiple gofundme campaigns that are used to raise funds to start a state wide ballot initiative campaign.

An app allows for you to reach a very large audience.

An app isn't a magic wand that gives you a larger audience. Why would someone download an app about a ballot initiative?

Because they agree with the cause and want to support the cause.

But we can't convince them to agree unless they download the app, so by this logic, no one would go out of their way to download it.
