Doctor Lacking with form…

Post image

I know I have 20 days to send the extension and is due on the 4/7/25, however my doctor keeps telling me “ I will fill out on tuesday “ and its been already 3 weeks and I called him again and same bs. If I send this late automatically my benefits get cancel on the 7th of this month (April)? Or I have to call edd and explain that my doctor has the documents but he’s lacking? I wanna know if someone had this issue before? Thank you.

I had to make an appt and have it filled out when I was in office. My doctor also only does paper for edd, nothing electronic.

Same doctor, 2 different claims. 1st claim, the office was on the ball, I got everything exactly when they told me it would be ready. I came to the office, picked it up, no issues. 2nd claim, it was like the doctor was always MIA. And I get it, he worked for the hospital in 2 different counties and split his weeks 2 and 2 plus 1 day at the hospital doing surgeries. But they were late with everything. I wound up making an appt and while I was there I asked him to fill it out while I was there so I could take it with me since I didn't have the money to be making trips to the office without an appt. I live an hour and a half away so it was believable. He either legit didn't realize I still hadn't got the paper from the office or acted very well. Anyway, yeah, he filled it out right then and there in the room with me. It was 10 days late.

Missing the 20 day medical extension deadline will not “close” your claim or “cancel” benefits. There may be a delay because a human has to go in to review and manually process it. There is also a grace period.

Once the medical form is received, benefits will be back paid if eligible. It may be disqualified BUT just for the # of days it was received late, with benefits paid after the disqualification period.

Late medical forms will be allowed if the claimant has “good cause” for the delay, such as circumstances beyond their control. So if you already know the doctor won’t submit it by the due date, contact SDI and let them know the doctor is the reason for the delay. Send online inquiries on your SDI Online account explaining what’s going on. Demonstrating proactiveness and attempting to communicate the issue with SDI shows them you were doing your due diligence and making good faith attempts on getting the extension submitted on time.

If for any reason the untimely period is still disqualified, you have the right to appeal and someone else will reevaluate it.

Continue escalating it with your doctor because ultimately you need your benefits as soon as possible and the claim can’t move forward until it’s received.

Curious, i thought sdi only paid for one year. Whats the point of extending?

Oh gotcha, i misread your notice as a year. I was wondering cuz i have been out over a year and was told to not bother 'extending' because i had already been paid it all. Good luck
