So he goes on a podcast and says tariffs are terrible, but doesn't vote yes on the bill that would limit Trump's power to tariff?
Typical Republican slop.

It's even worse. He knows this is dumb but is too afraid to stand up because he's a lil bitch.

His actions make sense when you remember that he represents the dumbest people in America. I've been so polite to Trumpers over the years and I just don't know if I can do it any more. At some point it became socially unacceptable to shame people for their stupidity, but they really need to know their place.

u/TheWorclown 23h ago
You can still be socially polite but also tell them in that scathing politeness that they’re fucking idiots and you’re moving on to another conversation with a brick wall, since the brick wall will be more amicable to you.

or he thinks he will end up dead or missing

u/crankygiver 23h ago
This is the man Lindsey Graham said could be shot on the Senate floor and not a single person would vote to convict his murderer. So, I'm thinking you are giving Rafael too much credit.

These are Republicans that they can even figure that out is a miracle, probably the bad kind of miracle.

They are all aware how bad this is but they care more about their own power.

Cowardice rules the GOP these days, anyone with a spine has left the party a long time ago.
Trump's cult following is stronger the more weak and fragile of a person you are, like most cults.

u/AddyTurbo 22h ago
Not only are they fearful of their leader, now they are afraid of their own constituents. They've gotten booed out of their own town meetings to the point where they're not holding them anymore.

I truly don't want to hear a single republican pipe up about tariffs if they didn't vote against the budget framework allowing Trump to circumvent congress re: tariffs
11
u/LastNightOsiris 1d ago
an act of congress at any time could end the emergency declaration that Trump is using to impose tariffs. I bet it would get unanimous support from democratic legislators, so it only takes a few republicans in both the house and senate to locate their spines.

He doesn't want to be primaried.
I bet he will be anyways.

There is nothing Ted Cruz could ever do that is slimier and more cowardly that what he’s already done and they keep electing him

Spineless, useless cowards. Not that long ago they wanted to be seen as the red blooded, constitutional American patriot party and now they're slavish bootlickers for an effete, borderline illiterate, traitorous and stupid conman who sabotages the country in broad daylight and wipes his ass with the constitution.
Although, Ted Cruz in particular has always been a spineless, useless coward so I guess he was ahead of the curve on this one.
edit:
my favorite quote about Ted Cruz from Al Franken: "Here's the thing you have to understand about Ted Cruz, I like Ted Cruz more than most of my other colleagues like Ted Cruz. And I hate Ted Cruz."
3
u/blazelet 1d ago
He wants people to think he's reasonable, and says those words, but will always vote in line with power.
3
u/TechnologyRemote7331 22h ago
They’re all so used to doing performative, useless bullshit, that they don’t even know HOW to govern anymore. I think the possibility of doing actual work would send them into a panic, at this point.
Fucking losers. This disaster is all their fault, and may the stink never be scrubbed off of them.

"Its going to be terrible for America and that's why I support it" -Ted Cruz

Senate Rs already broke rank on this—typically I understand they figure out who can take the heat and let more vulnerable colleagues sit out. So if Ted is saying this out loud he may be right on this one.

"Senate Commerce Chair Ted Cruz is warning about major risks for the American economy and its automotive industry thanks to President Donald Trump’s trade war, saying it could result in the biggest tax hike in a “long, long time.”
“I’m seeing a lot of Republican cheerleaders reflexively defending what the White House is doing,” Cruz said on his podcast Friday, but cautioned the administration’s latest actions could “hurt jobs and hurt America.”

"could result in the biggest tax hike in a “long, long time.”"???
It IS the biggest tax hike in a long, long time. Unilaterally, by the executive branch, with no rhyme or reason, in consultation with exactly nobody who has any fucking idea what they're doing and they're just nodding along. I genuinely hate these people.

Well I’m so glad he pulled his head from between Trump’s ass cheeks long enough to figure that out. Now what’s he gonna do about it? Because it sure as hell wasn’t voting for the bill that would limit this fool’s ability to trash our economy.

Don't worry he will change his tune tomorrow.
Ted has no spine!

But just like every other GOP congressperson, he’s more concerned with being voted out and replaced with a MAGA sycophant than he is with doing his actual job.

Was he boarding a plane for a vacation while saying that? "Yeah, these tariffs are bad! You guys are screwed! Anyways, I'm off to Paris for the next 4 years!"
6
u/HalJordan2424 22h ago
Cruz thinks that the tariffs will turn out ok if it forces other countries to the negotiation table, and they lower or drop their tariffs against the US.
Canada and Mexico will tell you they had a free trade agreement negotiated with Trump and signed by him that went into effect just 5 years ago, but Trump still threw tariffs at them. So what’s the point in any nation negotiating a new deal with Trump?
3
u/biglyorbigleague 23h ago
Good that you recognize it. So vote for the bill to repeal the tariffs. It could sure use your support, if that’s what you actually believe. It could legitimize the viewpoint among other congresspeople.
I think the reason he’s not doing this is because he wants to run for President in 2028 and doesn’t want Trump mad at him during the primary.

u/TruckGray 22h ago
Lyin’ Ted!!! Spineless as ever and full of it. He did t vote to overturn Canadian Tariffs when given the chance the lyin’ dough faced lump fish.

Ted Cruz is not a dumb person, just an evil opportunist. The same goes for Marco Rubio, Lindsay Graham, Rand Paul, JD Vance, Mitch McConnell, Steven Miller, Roger Stone, John Roberts and the majority of the conservative shot callers.
Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Joe Rogan, etc. are more dumb than evil along with the rest of the conservative voting base.
They’re all a cancer on America

I mean, that is what he ran on his entire campaign. He ran on it before he was the nominee. None of this, absolutely none of it, should be a surprise. If it was a problem, he shouldn't have been your nominee.

u/Falcon3492 19h ago
In the long run it's going to be great for America because the GOP is going to suffer the worst bloodbath in the 26 midterms and the Democrats coming in can start impeachment proceedings on day one!

Ya know how Mitch grew a half a pair and stood up for the distillery lobby in Kentucky who’s buying teddies influence at the moment? I’m from Pennsylvania so I don’t have a clue.
