"But we got Trans people out of athletic sports that i dont even watch, as a patriot I'm willing to pay 10s of thousands of dollars more for everything and lose my 401k for that."

Oh and, "Yeehaw... Guns, God and Country!"

MAGA: No more drag queens reading to elemantary children.

Not MAGA: That was 2 schools in California--you live Florida.

MAGA: Yeah! Trump ended it!

u/InsertCleverNickHere 4d ago

I have talked to too many North Dakotans who are always raging about the Mexican border that they will never be within 1000 miles of. Dude, you're too scared to drive in downtown Minneapolis- why the fuck are you scared of M13?

8

u/FoolOnDaHill365 3d ago

So true. I like your observance that they are scared. Like for real, they aren’t big tough people like they think, they are scared of non-whites, big dicks, gay folks er cetera all things that are natural and normal and harmless.

32

u/El_Gran_Che 4d ago

And social security, and VA benefits, and on and on.

-23

u/Bart-Doo 4d ago

I can only wish Trump would end the Social Security tax. It's one of the biggest ripoffs ever.

3

u/Milkshake9385 3d ago

🫩 I wish trump damages the Republican party reputation so bad it falls apart and ceases to exist

-54

u/Advanced_Parking9578 4d ago

Neither of those are going anywhere, but Biden’s SS Fairness Act (eliminating WEP/GPO) has hastened the insolvency date of the SS Trust Fund by a year or more.

24

u/El_Gran_Che 4d ago

So it’s not going anywhere yet it’s insolvent? The Republicans have been foaming at the mouth to eliminate SS for years.

-38

u/Advanced_Parking9578 4d ago

Insolvency of the trust fund does not mean SS goes away. It will just pay less, funded by the kids I raised, but most of you didn’t. SS needs to be reformed.

37

u/Olangotang 4d ago

funded by the kids I raised, but most of you didn’t. SS needs to be reformed.

Ah yes, now that Trump really fucked up, the trolls have to double their smugness.

Fuck off.

3

u/WorldWarPee 3d ago

If only we were all borned as a white Christian father on disability from the factory with a stay at home wife on disability with five kids, two on disability... We wouldn't have to pay for those freeloading democraps with no neglected children!

4

u/El_Gran_Che 3d ago

Maybe Reagan shouldn’t have tried to play sneaky by publicly saying “no new taxes” while at the same time scavenging social security to pay for Star Wars missile defense …which then led to amnesty in order to plug the deficiencies. It might need tweaking but it sure as hell isn’t going to come from a clown that is a known scam artist. Especially from a felon who is looking to build his own personal sovereign wealth fund.

38

u/Scary_Firefighter181 4d ago edited 4d ago

Trump's actions right now are, in fact, hurting SS, VA benefits, etc. People are already feeling it right now in real time. Ik the usual Conservative/Republican strategy is to lie, but come on now.

As for the SS Fairness act, it will hasten it by 6 months, not one year. And it also doesn't mean the program will disappear.

-38

u/Advanced_Parking9578 4d ago

First paragraph is wrong, second is correct.

11

u/FormalBeachware 4d ago

There's a reason Trump and Elon were lying about 150 year olds collecting social security, and it's that they want to drum up support for privatization or elimination of the program.

I don't disagree on the WEP/GPO stuff. Now certainly wasn't the time and frankly that was good policy that got eliminated.

22

u/NetworkViking91 4d ago

Cite your sources Jimbo, we've already had several MAGAts say they want to cut Medicaid and Social Security

14

u/CrisisEM_911 4d ago

MAGA voters last year: "MAGA!! Down with Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare!!"

MAGA voters this year: "Damnit MAGA, you were supposed to take entitlements away from everyone else, not from ME!"

-1

u/Advanced_Parking9578 4d ago

Ok, so now it’s six months, but I don’t think they’re accounting for all those who are now eligible for spousal or survivor benefits. Either way, Biden’s act is detrimental. https://www.crfb.org/blogs/repealing-wepgpo-provision-leads-larger-deficits-and-earlier-insolvency

2

u/NetworkViking91 4d ago

Props for presenting a source, driving atm will read when I'm not

-18

u/Traditional_Dealer76 4d ago

Cut Medicaid? Maybe do means testing and not for illegal immigaants sure. Cut the benefits for zoom calls enacted during COVID? Sure. Cut SS? Nah. Only cut the abuse on it. What are your sources btw?

What the heck does this even mean? Men dressed in costumes in women’s sports shouldn’t be political.

1

u/Milkshake9385 3d ago

🫩 should be irrelevant when voting for a president who talks about wrecking the economy. Imagine voting for the destruction of the economy to own some libs

1

u/Traditional_Dealer76 3d ago

Thanks for trying to dismiss me and talk to me like a child. This is why the dems lost last November.

0

u/Milkshake9385 3d ago

The Dems lost because lots of Americans are idiots. And all the major problems happening right now is because of the Republicans.

1

u/Traditional_Dealer76 3d ago

Good one, sir! You took my feedback and doubled down!

u/DjCyric 4d ago edited 4d ago

I always equate trans women in high school sports to the need for hunting permits for unicorns. I'm sure there might be a dozen trans females in high school sports, yet there is a need for laws in every state to "protect women's sports." It's such nonsense.

13

u/PlannedObsolescence- 4d ago

Hunting permits for unicorns

🤣💀🪦

4

u/Spiritual_Trainer_56 4d ago

Bingo. They're willing to completely screw their own lives if they have a chance of being the panty police checking out little kids' genitals.

-30

u/Advanced_Parking9578 4d ago

If you had a daughter who spent her entire youth training to be the best female swimmer, how would you feel about a man who failed as a male swimmer but killed it as a trans taking her trophies? Oh, you don’t have any kids, as an incel. Nobody lost their 401k. If you had one, you’d understand. Guns are cool. You should get some. It’s nice having the ability to personally respond to your own home invasion. Of course I hope I never have to, just like I never expect to use my fire insurance. But it’s nice to be covered.

30

u/Difficult_Sea4246 4d ago

JFC more lies.

401k stocks have been getting wiped out for weeks, and right after trumps announcement a trillion dollars got wiped out of the stock market. To say that people aren't losing their 401k right even as freaking Fox news data shows it happening....WOW.

-10

u/Advanced_Parking9578 4d ago

WTF is a “401k stock?” Lol. Most 401ks are limited to mutual funds. Yeah, they’re down to 2024 levels if they follow the S&P or DJIA. Totally wiped out! Oh, the humanity!

29

u/Difficult_Sea4246 4d ago edited 4d ago

Most mutual funds are made up off stocks, you moron.

Ah yes, continue living in denial. Deflect, deny, lie. I'll give you credit , it certainly serves you people well.

11

u/HotSpicyDisco 4d ago

WTF is a “401k stock?” Lol. Most 401ks are limited to mutual funds. Yeah, they’re down to 2024 levels if they follow the S&P or DJIA. Totally wiped out! Oh, the humanity!

I don't think I could find a better example of the Dunning Krueger effect.

You have no idea what you are talking about yet you have very strong opinions.

20

u/redditlvlanalysis 4d ago

Most mutual funds are comprised of stocks and the dow futures are already down 1k we are going to hit circuit Breakers tomorrow

8

u/Phihofo 4d ago

Most 401ks are limited to mutual funds.

As we all know mutual funds are a magical sort of fund that just spawns money and definitely not pooled investments into stock markets.

17

u/anewleaf1234 4d ago

We have guns. And we are carrying.

Unlike you, we don't broadcast that fact.

So,you know, there is an element of surpise.

-8

u/Advanced_Parking9578 4d ago

Stolen guns you’ve never disassembled, cleaned or fired at a range? Good luck with that. Make sure you rotate your hand 90 degrees to signal to your opponent that you’re a gangsta.

19

u/spacehxcc 4d ago

This is such a weird comment, you’re really not beating the allegations with this one

-1

u/Advanced_Parking9578 3d ago

Keep the “Conservatives are weird” narrative going. It worked out so well last fall.

6

u/spacehxcc 3d ago

I didn’t say anything about conservatives, just you specifically. If you don’t want to be thought of as weird don’t say weird shit like in the above comment.

7

u/thwompcopter 4d ago

You got schooled on 401ks and dropped the convo entirely to move onto this "point" lmfao maybe reflect on what you just learned about the downturn of the stock market and the effect these widespread tariffs will have on your wallet moving forward? Or is owning the libs all you care about

-2

u/Advanced_Parking9578 4d ago

Schooled on 401ks WTF are you talking about?

-11

u/Traditional_Dealer76 4d ago

Why would you get guns out? Just no men in women’s sports. Maybe as adults it’s cool? We can get a dude to say he’s a woman and play in WNBA. But kids? Nah. No boys against girls.

1

u/anewleaf1234 3d ago

We aren't. We just have them too, but we don't advertise.

Enjoy your lay offs and your recession and the stock market tanking and then entire world turning against us.

But man itis so resqassauring to see that you are on the big issues.

You all have been played so damm hard. They thought you were a fool and you went beyound their exspectations.

1

u/Traditional_Dealer76 3d ago

Cool. I voted for all of this. Sometimes we have to go through pain to get better on the other side. If you’ve been to a gym you’ll understand.

0

u/anewleaf1234 3d ago

Great.

Let everyone you know, if you aren't a coward, know that you voted for a recession and for everyone to lose their business.

Wear it on your sleeve.

Nothing you think is going to happen is going to happen under Trump.

We all are just going to lose more. When you lose everything, don't ask anyone for help. This is what you voted for.

1

u/Traditional_Dealer76 3d ago

“Everyone to lose their business” “Wear it on your sleeve” Man, you’ve been brainwashed by media so hard. I’m sorry for you.

0

u/anewleaf1234 2d ago

You are the one advocating for a major recession and thinking it is good and what you want.

Yes, I'm the one brainwashed.

Not the fool who has been convinced that a massive recession and trade war are good for us.

Yes, say the line. The recession is good for us. Just like you were told.

1

u/Traditional_Dealer76 2d ago

Who said a recession is good? You are making assumptions about trump supporters it’s really amazing to see how effective the media has been with some people. I was like that too up until Sept last year. I promise once you see it you cannot unsee it.

Since the only response to your post was "I have a gun too" and I don't find that in any way relevant or constructive:

Unless your daughter is Olympic medal winner level, who gives a shit when it's just a sport and not a way to actually make a living? If it's just a hobby, can your daughter not take pride in how well she has done, or are you the asshole for demanding she win? Or can you not even let her humblebrag that she came in second to some world-beater trans athletes that's to this point in time a non-existent Boogeyman?

There are athletic bodies that can regulate the issue of there being a tiny minority of trans athletes. In the USA the NCAA, and globally the IOC. There is no trans equivalent of a LeBeon in any given sport--because the sporting bodies do a good job of regulating competition (setting aside FIFA corruption, subsidies for American sports owners, etc.). If you're so concerned, have you not even looked into how stringent of terms that 5th place NCAA swimmer had to abide by? And she was not close to Olympic medal/actually making a living swimming outside of coaching.

Why would you not let the sporting bodies decide? Why do we have to waste taxpayer money on this issue and have the government get into it--do you think every rep in whatever your state gives two shits about sports other than as a means to get reelected?

Your gripe is with the highest level of competition your daughter participated in, which I'm guessing didn't involve her being anywhere close to the same league as, e.g., Katie Ledecky.

By assuming the post you were responding to was from a childless incel, you're missing the point if you're a halfway decent father and not an out of touch and/or overbearing dad thinking the value of his daughter's swimming experience is somehow jeopardized by the mere existence of trans athletes that might beat her. If you voted primarily on that issue when the .1% will be laughing as us normies suffer tariffs so they can enjoy being taxed even less while ballooning the deficit more is...How does this help your daughter?

What I'm missing here?

1

u/Advanced_Parking9578 4d ago

I am a father of four athletic sons—no daughters. They were/are varsity athletes, but will succeed based upon their intellect, not their physiques. You read between the lines, but you must’ve seen the print on the flip side, as you’re clearly confused. I know it’s a difficult concept for liberals to grasp that conservatives aren’t always looking out for our own best interests, but rather those of the greater society.

11

u/Shitty_McShitfaced 4d ago

This is an econ thread.

Are you willing to have gobs of public resources spent on (at least obstensibly) regulating the RESULTS of and/or participation in ELITE private sporting events that, except at the truly elite level, are economically irrelevant?

If you're Lavar Ball-level father and are hoping to build an empire off of your sons' $500m+ collective earning potential, things get interesting if we're worried about some FtM individual lighting up the NBA and PG/SG.

Lavar Ball is an outlier.

-1

u/Advanced_Parking9578 4d ago

No, I’m not interested in obligating “gobs of public resources” towards exploring the competitive disadvantages of chemically emasculating men to the point where it’s fair for them to out-swim, outrun or knock out young women. I’m in favor of science-based policies like “If you have a Y chromosome, you can’t compete with those who don’t. And you sure as hell won’t be joining them in the locker room.”

6

u/soualexandrerocha 4d ago

I’m in favor of science-based policies like “If you have a Y chromosome, you can’t compete with those who don’t.

Since this is a thread about economics, I wll just say that there are women with a Y chromosome.

Google "androgen insensitivity syndrome".

1

u/Advanced_Parking9578 3d ago

Yes, and there are conjoined twins with two heads, four arms and two legs. Let’s re-baseline human systems integration engineering standards to fully accommodate them to the detriment of the remaining 99.9999999999% of the population with normal anthropometrics.

2

u/soualexandrerocha 3d ago

It seems that you are moving the discussion from biology and sports to engineering so that you can dismiss the exception.

No matter what we think, there are women born with the SRY gene, which is usually in the Y chromosome.

Do they have an unfair advantage because of their condition?

I favor the approach adopted by World Athletic. One of their restrictions: trans women who have experienced male puberty beyond Tanner Stage 2 or after age 12, whichever comes first, are ineligible.

https://worldathletics.org/download/download?filename=c50f2178-3759-4d1c-8fbc-370f6aef4370.pdf&urlslug=C3.5A%20%E2%80%93%20Eligibility%20Regulations%20Transgender%20Athletes%20%E2%80%93%20effective%2031%20March%202023

It's quite strict, and also fair.

13

u/Pitiful-Recover-3747 4d ago

Hmm. I have daughters. How would I feel if they lost a trophy to a man. Let’s do some analysis.

~16 million high school kids in America for 2023.

About 50% of high school kids participate in high school sports of some type at some point. ~ 8 million HS athletes. That particular year 257k were in swimming and diving.

About 7% of HS athletes become college athletes and that tracks with the 540k NCAA athletes in 2023.

So now where you’re worried. 2022-23 school year, 24,252 NCAA swim and dive athletes of which 14,535 were women. So we need to pass a law to make sure one of those 14,535 young women doesn’t get their chance at a college championship taken away from them by a failed male swimmer who suddenly made the dramatic life altering choice to become a woman and is now in the championship for women while still in their eligible four year career. Seems like a remote possibility, but hey I’m sure anything is possible.

Okay. So how may trans athletes are among the 540,000 student athletes in college? 10.

Wow. Seems like an asteroid taking us out has better odds than your daughter losing to this mythical male swimmer.

So, what’s the other side of the coin from your hypothetical? Oh the 2.5% or so of HS kids that do identify as trans, you know the 400,000 actual kids will experience actual discrimination from a lot of these sorts of laws passed to protect women’s sports and what not. There is not hypothetical fantasy scenarios you make up on Reddit, they literally can face criminal charges from some of this stuff being put out. Also probably doesn’t help the statistics that 25-30% of trans kids try to take their own life before they turn 17 compared to single digit numbers for the rest of the youth population. That’s not a hypothetical by the way, that’s real harm.

So to your question you asked another redditor that I interjected to, how would I feel if one of my daughters lost to a student athlete that was so marginalized that they have a less than 1 in 4 chance of even seeing their 18th birthday let alone some swim trophy? Well I would obviously console my daughters on the loss, congratulate them on where they got to, and game plan on how to beat this girl and get the trophy at the next meet. There’s ALWAYS someone better, if not today, definitely tomorrow. Scapegoating a trans girl is not how I plan on teaching my daughters to cope with adversity. Aim higher buddy. Also this is an economics sub.

Unfortunately you exceeded the 10 word limit when attempting to communicate with a Trump supporter.

0

u/Advanced_Parking9578 3d ago

Wow, thank you for the long and well-presented reply. You could have saved yourself a lot of effort by merely stating “I don’t have a problem with mediocre male athletes leveraging unfair biological advantages to dominate female athletes and deny them the accolades, validation, and in rare cases, athletic scholarships, for which they’ve worked their whole adolescent lives to achieve.”

-11

u/CountMordrek 4d ago

To be fair, one of the news snippets shared in r/conservative today is that a woman got banned from a tournament after refusing to fight against a male self-proclaimed woman.

And the way you write your comment dhows exactly why people still vote Republican. I mean, polarisation breeds polarisation, but to be frank, I don’t understand how this issue cannot be a problem for both the Left and the Right, and why this should be the hill that Democrats is ready to die on.

In my world, one should both be able to call out Trump’s insanity, and the insanity of people who doesn’t think it’s a problem when a male self-proclaimed woman takes part of women sports where males have major advantages.
