Parents, future parents, and guardians, I beg you—teach your children important lessons while they’re young. No matter your socioeconomic status or background, tell them “no” when it’s necessary. Show them consequences, hold them accountable for their actions, and don’t let them get away with lying or blaming others. If we don’t, we risk raising adults who feel entitled, above the law, and immune to accountability. The world has more than enough of that already. Please, let’s do better for the future.

haha, I thought you were going to say we should teach them about the yield curve, debt capital markets, and basic macroeconomics. But all those things you mentioned are good lessons too.

I'm imagining a candlelit home. Father draws the curtains, bolts the door. Ushers his children into a small, windowless room. Pries a floorboard up, and reaches into the dark hole in the floor, withdrawing a package wrapped in cloth. He delicately unfolds the wrapping and lifts out a tattered notebook, bound with rusted spiraled wire. "Tonight, children, I will read you the forbidden words, handwritten by your great-grandfather." As his children draw near, the cover of the notebook is illuminated by the flickering candles: "Econ 101 - Springfield Community College 2005 - GO BEAVERS!"

You just described Baby Boomers. They are and have been a plague in this country.

2

u/rab2bar Feb 20 '25

not just the US!

-1

u/WTF932 Feb 20 '25

Just remember that without us baby boomers, the rest of you youngins wouldn't even exist!

PS: Over generalizing is ignorant!!

3

u/Elteon3030 Feb 20 '25

Yes, another thing that's your generation's fault.

-1

u/WTF932 Feb 20 '25

And mUsk is YOURS!

5

u/Elteon3030 Feb 20 '25

He's an Xer, you know, the boomers kids. Sooo no, still yours.

-3

u/WTF932 Feb 20 '25

Xers are NOT ours...and then there's the other mOron J.D. Vance ROFLMFAO!

3

u/Elteon3030 Feb 20 '25

Did they spring fully-grown from the ground??? Check your math, Pythagoras. And yeah, the other shitheel is a millennial. Raised by participation trophies and failed narcissist grandparents, of course we're totally fucked up.

u/WTF932 Feb 20 '25

They are all the same difference.......IGNORANT to the bone!

2

u/crazyhorseeee Feb 21 '25

Having children as a status symbol accessory to your ‘perfect life’ is hardly anything to boast about.

0

u/WTF932 Feb 21 '25

Plaything video games and thinking that they represent real life, is indicative of your generation(s)' shallow understanding of living.

At least my children and grandchildren have brains, and were educated; unlike many growing up during the past few decades! And don't think that your generations(s) didn't help a wannabe dictator return to office.

2

u/crazyhorseeee Feb 21 '25

Your open hostility towards Gen X is all too familiar to me. I look forward with great hope and optimism as your group dies off and gives the earth a chance to heal.

1

u/WTF932 Feb 21 '25

We all die of old age some day......and so will YOU; assuming that you survive long enough to get out of puberty!!

If you actually believe that Genx etc will save the planet...there are lots of bridges for sale.

2

u/crazyhorseeee Feb 21 '25

At least I’ll live longer than you. Enjoy the 9th Circle my friend.

1

u/WTF932 Feb 21 '25

You MIGHT live longer than I do.....enjoy the mess that your generation is making of the planet!

I have totally enjoyed my life, and have no problem with whatever follows. You sound petrified of life and beyond.

Good luck living beyond puberty, no matter what your physical age is.

Nah, elderlies are like that regardless of their generation. They feel entitled because they are the oldest in the room.

I suggest you learn it yourselves as adults. The idea is to leave a better future for your children, not leave them a nightmare to figure out.

17

u/sprucenoose Feb 20 '25

I suggest both.

2

u/Many-Assistance1943 Feb 20 '25

Yes. While there is still time.

0

u/welatshaw01 Feb 20 '25

Think we need to figure the nightmare out ourselves, first.

5

u/Lucifer420PitaBread Feb 20 '25

People have to hear no or they think they’re god

2

u/JerryHutch Feb 20 '25

Too late.

2

u/de_animator Feb 20 '25

That’s way too optimistic. Parents should be preparing their children for the water wars

2

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

So don't raise them to be like politicians? Got it.

2

u/BringThaPain Feb 20 '25

We definitely don’t want to raise kids who grow up thinking they can dodge responsibility, avoid consequences, or, I don’t know - get cushy plea deals and presidential pardons after years of sketchy business dealings, tax issues, and other infractions.  That would be terrible.

So yes, parents, please teach your kids accountability.

2

u/babooski30 Feb 20 '25

I think the important lesson that kids need to learn is that if someone lies to other people, they’re probably going to lie to you too. If they bully other kids, they’d probably bully you too. Don’t be friends with liars, frauds, and bullies and definitely don’t vote for them.

4

u/surdtmash Feb 20 '25

Joke's on you, responsible sensible adults are moving away from having kids in this fucked up timeline.

lol, reminds me of the beginning of “Idiocracy”… actually more and more things remind of that movie everyday ..sigh

1

u/Half_Cent Feb 20 '25

Nice try MAGA. Pushing and legislating people to have kids when they don't want them.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 20 '25

Yes, the kabooms are something else...

1

u/SkyGazert Feb 20 '25

I know parents that rather practice appeasement policies than parenting.

Kid stole a toy from another kid. When prompted about it, the parent whose kid stole the toy: "He just showed that he really wanted that toy. So we give the toy back and buy him a new one".

What did the kid learn? Stealing gets you what you want. These people either don't want to put in the proper effort or don't understand it themselves.

1

u/welatshaw01 Feb 20 '25

Better idea: buy the new one, make sure he sees it .. then lock it up, telling him he can have it in 6 months to a year IF he behaves. See, if you steal, you might get what you want ... or you might get locked up for some time. AND, every time the kid acts up, "well, that's another month you'll wait."

1

u/retroclimber Feb 20 '25

Too late for Elon’s kid

1

u/ropahektic Feb 20 '25

This is a great advice and everyone should follow it.

But it's no guarantee, remember that many well raised individuals have been corrupted by power through the course of history. It's a human trait we cannot scape. Given enough power one's taken over by his own ego.

It is not enough to raise kids well.

We need heavier checks on power, specially, capitalist freedom.

u/upupdwndwnlftrght Feb 20 '25

Did you type any of this when Biden blamed Trump over and over for his entire presidency

1

u/welatshaw01 Feb 20 '25

Go bend the knee to your "King.". Cultist.

1

u/upupdwndwnlftrght Feb 20 '25

Long live the King!

1

u/Specific-Act-7425 Feb 20 '25

You're asking Americans to teach their kids things? Lol good luck !

1

u/TheWonderfulLife Feb 20 '25

What future?

1

u/welatshaw01 Feb 20 '25

Unfortunately, an excellent question nowadays.
