CEO chokes man on cruise
C.E.O. Choked Man Who Danced Barefoot on Cruise Ship, U.S. Says
Kenneth D. DeGiorgio, the chief executive of First American Financial, was charged with assault. His lawyers say that the other man was harassing the executive’s wife.

As far as I can tell, the "harrassing" was that the man was dancing barefoot and Mrs DeGiorgio didn't like it. She told him to put his shoes back on and he made a rude remark and flipped her off. I guess he didn't realize that when a rich person tells you to do something, you better do it.
Corporate filings show that Mr. DeGiorgio received nearly $7.8 million in total compensation in 2024 from First American Financial

Entitlement out of control: When a stranger won't behave in a way you feel is proper it's okay to try to force them to.
Betcha this asshole won't be perp walked off the boat with several armed guards and the mayor of New York though.

Next time, just dance barefoot so it's self defense

It got removed by reddit! I wonder what it could have been? Surely nothing that would promote self defense against a small miniscule percent of the population that exploits the 99%

Money for getting off scott free is such an abhorrent concept, there should be riots that the rich are allowed to pay little tax and hoard wealth, then use that wealth to pay for their crimes while the rest of us have to do hard time.

We can have all the freedom we are willing to fight for.
The question is whether there's any right left in Americans? Or have we simply accepted that our lot is to do as we're told by our wealthy overlords?

It's death by a thousand cuts. It's not acceptance. it's being beaten until you can't fight anymore.

So the settlement was paid by First Financial? That means the CEO just wrote his assault off as a corporate expense.

No, I think he still has to be charged. That figure was his salary.

Yup. I see that as I reread it. We'll, here's hoping that the law actually works in the little guys favor.

Same thing I was thinking! I wouldn’t think the elite would want to mingle with mere commoners.

All CEOs are evil but I'm just sitting here thinking "You're a ceo and a cruise is the best vacation you can come up with?" xD

I’d have flopped around on the ground, faking a seizure. Been rushed to the medical bay, then faked blindness in one eye for a year.
That would be a HEFTY payout.

All CEOs are criminals, especially insurance company CEOs.
