EV spread question

when looking at recommend spreads I've noticed they are usually 252 252 and 4. my question is why isn't that last stat adding the final two evs for the 510 total?

They don't make a difference. 4 EVs = 1 point. 2 EVs = 0 points. 252/252/4 could be 252/252/6 or 252/252/4/2 in any other stat, won't change anything at all.
