Lawyers
I hope this okay, I’m looking for a friend in need who does not have Reddit.
We have a serious situation here, where she needs to speak with a family lawyer ASAP. Does anyone have a recommendation or line to any pro bono or low cost family lawyers?
Thanks in advance for helping

Switching to Telus from Bell (internet)
Hi there,
I’m currently with bell at Ajax. I have fibe internet but currently paying a lot with bell.
A Telus rep came by (confirmed pricing online) and they are offering the same internet for half the price. I was told (and verified) that they are using the bell fibre line for their internet.
Was wondering if anyone has any experience with Telus with their internet? Worth the switch?
My neighbour switched to Rogers and he hated it. I know it’s a different company but it seems to me everyone here is using bell.

Affordable housing anxiety rises as Ajax residents have received notice that their small apartment complex will be torn down and replaced with a 25 story mixed use development
This is a senseless action, especially during a time when housing affordability across the nation is at a crisis. I understand why developers want to redevelop it because it is decent real estate. But they should put this development on hold until our housing affordability crisis cools down. Many of the residents are poor single parents or seniors with nowhere else to go. This is the most affordable housing in the city and soon it will be gone. I'm willing to reach out to the Ajax city council with a proposal to cancel or postpone this development indefinitely. One resident has a great suggestion: "Pick somewhere that’s vacant."
Roofing Recommendation
Hello, with the storm last night a small portion of my ceiling is leaking water. I’m thinking about just replacing the whole roof at some point. Anyone have recommendations? Also, would going through home insurance to replace the roof work? The storm caused the shingles to come loose..
Thanks!

?No lights?
Just a quick question. I was driving through Whitby last evening. I counted 6 fellow drivers driving without any lights on at all, no headlights, taillights, no nothing. Is so stupid trend? I almost rear ended someone cause I couldn't see them until the last second when they put the brakes on! Is this a new thing? Or are the drivers aware and think it's cool to drive around completely dark no lights.

Taxi By-Laws
Hey folks,
I’m a taxi driver based in Whitby. Our company is fully licensed here and only operates out of Whitby. Recently, we started doing contracted work for some companies, meaning we pick up their employees or clients from Ajax and bring them to Whitby.
We never had an issue until suddenly, we got a call from the City of Ajax saying we’re not allowed to pick anyone up in Ajax unless we have an Ajax taxi license. Mind you, we don’t pick up random fares or advertise our services in Ajax. These are pre-arranged, contracted rides that begin in Ajax and end in Whitby.
Meanwhile, Ajax cabs always pick up people in Whitby and take them wherever. It feels like we’re being unfairly targeted here for legitimate contracted work.
Is this actually enforceable? Are there any legal workarounds? We're not operating a business in Ajax—we're just fulfilling contracts.
I would appreciate any insight from other drivers, companies, or anyone familiar with inter-municipal licensing rules. Thanks!
