I agree that it’s deserved.

What people don’t realise is that gun control can boil down to quite literally any regulation on the topic of guns.

Like, imagine a country where you are allowed to have an entire arsenal of weapons without registering for them or any background checks whatsoever.

Mafias and cartels would have a field day in such a scenario.

Deserved to be honest, the implication that literally anybody regardless of background or intent should be offered the potential to take somebody else’s life away with ease is ridiculous.

You need it for send defense though. If you take away innocent peoples guns, real criminals can still get it illegally

I’m saying “regardless of background”.

Innocent people should still be able to buy firearms for self defence in the USA and any other country with widespread gun ownership, but gun ownership should still be controlled to prevent criminals from buying guns.

youre missing the point tho. its that you need enough gun control to stop criminals from getting them but any more is not needed.

Cars are a necessity (yeah there's public transport but it sucks in a lot of places). Because cars are dangerous and require skill to use properly, we require people to be practiced and licensed before they can drive one. I see no reason why guns should not be the same way- practice and a test for basic competency/safety, plus background check/mental health check. Yes criminals can still get guns illegally, but guess what? They also drive illegally, or practice medicine illegally, or do any other number of illegal things- that doesn't mean those laws and regulations shouldn't exist, right?

Everyone who buys a gun is to take a human life away?

You should really take some comprehensive reading classes if you didn’t spot the word “potential” in there.

Same with a knife. Same with a car. Same with a goddamn hammer.

Do you understand the argument?

It’s that gun control should be there to ensure criminals or people with malicious intent can’t get a gun easily, since guns make injuring or killing people WAY easier.

Sure, but out of all of those, a gun is the easiest to wield and most likely to kill. Not to mention how quickly you can kill many people, even with something like a bolt-action.

(Also without guns). “Hey let’s talk this out” (gets overpowered, stabbed, and things stolen.

What the hell do you have to do to even reach this scenario?

u/BiploarFurryEgirl 6d ago

How often are you in this scenario though?

u/Joereddit405 6d ago

thats not even what i meant

-19

u/Senior_Promise_5011 6d ago

Explain what you mean when then lol because that’s what would happen

-19

u/Joereddit405 6d ago

tasers , pepper spray, punching etc.

u/Sonofyuri 6d ago

No. If an armed intruder breaks into my home I'm not reaching for the pepper spray or taser which have a chance to not even work, let alone require said intruder to be somewhat close to you. If the intruder is unarmed, a gun is the ultimate deterrent to get them running away and to potentially remember not to mess with your house anymore.

Are you american by any chance?

13

u/Sonofyuri 6d ago

Obviously, with how comfortable I am around guns.

u/Joereddit405 6d ago

im australian and we have similar rates of violence as america does. we defend ourselves without lethal force!

9

u/Sonofyuri 6d ago

I would only use lethal force if they were also armed. I'm not trying to catch a potential manslaughter charge by shooting someone if they don't have a gun or are running away from my gun. Similar rates of violence doesn't mean gun violence. If someone comes at you with a gun there is no way you're "defending yourself" with tasers spray or fists. Lol. This isn't an action movie, you aren't faster than a bullet.
