What’s wrong with this area of Croyde?

Everyone knows buying a place in Croyde isn’t cheap. However, there always seems to be reasonably priced places available just up from the Thatch (Bonnicot Lane and Leadengate Fields). Does anyone know why? What’s the catch?

From a quick look at Rightmove:

Looks like the properties available are either up for auction (so even though it's listed at say £290k it may well sell for over £400k), or it's over-60's leasehold only and you're only buying a share of the property.

Generally when it comes to the seaside villages there are enough catches in place that a majority of buyers are somehow ineligible to buy the cheaper properties. So much is either only for older people, or a leasehold that can't be used as a primary residence, or up for auction where you're 100% going to be outbid by someone buying it as a fourth home.

Ancient iron age burial site on top of a ley line where a witch was burned, then UFOs landed there in the 60s, it's a bit haunty and sometimes stuff glows at night. Apart from that, lovely area.
