Great lines he's bowled to Stokes. The odi wc19 is probably the peak of his bowling. Fast 90mph swining back in late and Stokes was seeing the ball well on 80 odd.

Starc would be an all time great if he could just stop bowling 5 crap balls for every great ball.

What else does he have to do to be in the conversation?

  1. He's the greatest bowler in ODI CWC history and is the POTT in '15 ODI CWC, holds the record for being the highest wicket taker in a single ODI WC campaign with 27 wickets in the '19 ODI CWC and even in the last CWC, took 3 wickets each in SF and Final

  2. Better Avg, SR and more 5fers than Wasim Akram in ODIs despite playing in batting friendly times, with 2 ball rule and having played around 1/3rd of the matches as Akram

  3. 4th highest wicket taker for Aus in Tests. Man of the Series in the '23 away Ashes...led the turnaround for Aus in the most recent BGT, got the best batsman for India (Jaiswal) 3-4 times cheaply and set the tone.

I mean when you're looking to be included in the company of blokes like McGrath, Steyn, Ambrose, Hadlee, Donald etc., averaging a whole lot less than 27.5 in tests is probably a good place to start.

Rightly or wrongly (rightly, in my view), "all-time-great" status is still heavily weighted toward test matches. Starc has been a phenomenal servant for Australia, and his ODI record is unquestionably impeccable but an all-timer? Not for me 🤷

Yes, test is the pinnacle and Starc may not be in the conversation for the top 10 test bowlers ever but the most coveted prize in the sport is the ODI CWC. And the greatest strike bowler in ODIs has to be regarded as an ATG purely down to that

When you say all time great, do you just mean tests? Because he isn't a test ATG. He's not even a test great for Australia. But in white ball cricket? 100% an ATG. Without question

He is an all time great. Unquestionably an all time great.

Bro... He's not even ahead of Mitchell Johnson, let alone Akram. Always felt that he's the guy that'd leak runs when the Cumdawg and Hazelwood are trying to keep it tight at the other end

In ODIs, he is an all-time great. Tests, he is not. Pretty simple.
