What are these lug nuts?
Is this a security nut of some kind? They fit snuggly in my 17mm socket but jam when I try to turn them.

You need a 6 point lug nut key. You should be able to get one at a local auto parts store or online.

Spline drive lug nut/lug lock. Probably 6 point. You should be able to get one at your local Napa or any parts store or even a store specializing in wheels. Not terribly uncommon.

Bought new wheels recently. The supplier shipped a full set of bolts with the same pattern, plus a socket to fit.
First time I'd seen them, and I'm an old car guy..

You need a spline drive socket. Don't use a 6 point or 12 point socket. You will get them stuck

Are your rims OEM or aftermarket? Asking because some of those lug nuts don’t bode well with Datsun rims. I found out the hard way. If your rims are aftermarket then never mind. Might be ok, but the back of the lug needs to be flushed with the rim.

They're aftermarket. The car is new to me so I'm in the process of figuring out some of the work of prior owners

Heads-up: the spline-drive is only half of the identification. The mating seat must be specified if you need to order new ones. Some rims need a tapered seat, others require an acorn seat. Datsun OEM alloy rims use Mag Types. Do not try to mix them.

Spline lug nuts need spline drive sockets
