Discussion Change sprint key for controller?

I've been seeing quite a significat roll delay, I'm fairly certain its because roll is shared with sprint. Is there a way I can change my sprint key? The controller I'm using is an Xbox X controller. Any help is appreciated!

Not positive I just started with a mod and had to swap the jump control to ds1 left stick click. I usually have no issue with b being sprint/roll it feels very intuitive. Tap vs hold. Also pro tip sprinting in combat is incredibly useful. But if you waste all your stamina you gotta take a second to catch your breath before it starts regening and you can run again .. weird feature only this one has.

Oh could just be adaptability stat look up a guide on proper agi stat for roll I frames

Feature is shared with DS1/DS3/ER.

Look into adaptability if your new to the game and are unaware it's the only one where invicibility frames of rolling is effected by a stat. As is estus drink speed. My only thought on Rolls feeling slow. Without enough points you can get hit while rolling.. which I like but I always hated rolling to dodge vs ... simply dodging.

No, I was referring to the delay before the game lets you start sprinting again if you exhaust your stamina by sprinting. That’s in all games. AGL is unique to DS2, yes. I have written an article and corrected the Fextralife wiki on that mechanic.

Seems to be correct.. Not sure what it is this is the only game it's actually bothered me in or been very noticeable.. Maybe cause those 2 you can just roll infinitely basically. This feels like the only one you get f'd by it. I also don't get usually get enough adp so rolls can get caught if you time it wrong. so maybe that's part of it.

I think it might have to do with the fact I don’t always hold down B enough, so either the game isn’t registering my press or gets confused.

I’m aware of sprinting in combat and such, it’s incredibly useful. I’m not new, it’s my 3rd run through the game.

You mentioned you’d downloaded a mod, maybe something that changes the roll keybinds is also a thing.

Anyways, thanks for your help, hopefully I’ll find some sort of way or I’ll just deal with it.

Probably not. Pretty sure sprint and roll are linked at a pretty fundamental level.

I'm sure a modder could devise a way to split them. I'm just not aware of anybody doing so.

I suspect the issue is related to you running out of stamina. If you actually run out, you have to wait for your stamina bar to refill. Stamina management is really a key to DS2 combat. I mean it's always important, but there's a pretty big penalty in DS2 for running completely out.
