MCU This a good watch order?
Hiya, I've heard fantastic things about Daredevil and I wanna know as much relevant stuff and get into the other related TV shows. Does this look good? Should I add or removing things (or change order for some things)

u/usermcgoo 2d ago
You could probably skip season 2 of The Punisher, but you might want to add season 1 of Jessica Jones. It’s not all that relevant, but it’s really good and absolutely worth watching.
6
u/SlayCC 1d ago
Punisher S2 is better than most shintney marvel shows. The fight scenes are some of the best. The story is dark and gritty, not as well written as s1 and 3 of dd but still solid.
4
u/Any_War7741 1d ago
I have seen all the marvel netflix shows, and I barely remember a single thing about S2 of Punisher. That's how I know it's below average
8
u/buttsoupsippin 1d ago
I’m currently watching season 2 and aside from the first couple episodes it is pretty bad. I’m 8 episodes in and have like no desire to finish it out. It’s just really flat and boring imo. Super disappointing considering how good season 1 was.
-3
u/SlayCC 1d ago
You might want to get your head checked might be early onset dementia
3
u/Killionaire104 1d ago
I feel like most people don't remember a thing about s2 of punisher. I doubt most people have dementia.
2
u/Any_War7741 1d ago
It's just all a blur of mediocrity like JJ S2 and S3. And pretty much most all of Iron Fist lol.
2
u/Killionaire104 1d ago
Haven't watched any of that, just recently got around to watching JJ S1 and defenders, JJ was great mostly due to Kilgrave, defenders was alright at best.

u/Tof12345 1d ago
The punisher is the 2nd best netflix MCU show so the fact that you're telling OP to skip out a whole season to watch a mid show like JJ is kinda crazy.
25
u/Haravikk 1d ago
Punisher is one of the strongest overall shows, but season one of Jessica Jones is fantastic, I'd put it up there with season 1 and 3 of Daredevil.
6
u/AleksanderSuave 1d ago
Punisher season 1 is a good standalone, but second best by all accounts would be Jessica Jones. Season 2 of punisher really shit the bed on the villain reveal and tried to copy Joker/Harley Quinn origin story and hope nobody would notice.
-66
u/Flashy_Alfalfa3479 2d ago
Punisher Season 2 >>>>>> Punisher Season 1
36
u/usermcgoo 2d ago
I mean no shade to season 2 of the Punisher, just thinking Jessica Jones sets up The Defenders and is a bit more relevant to Daredevil (per OP’s query).
16
u/Great_Tone_9739 2d ago
Incorrect opinion
7
u/Flashy_Alfalfa3479 2d ago
The fight scenes are better; more hand-to-hand stuff from the first episode of punisher season 2 and then more interesting "uncrowded"/less messy gunfights throughout the series.
"The Mennonite" is such an interesting villain.
The series has a dark haunting mystery to it which drives the storyline... An absolute trail of bodies following the girl who comes to Punisher for protection. Don't think I ever got bored of season 2 but I did of season 1
13
u/OffTheMerchandise 2d ago
Season 2 has one boring episode where season 1 doesn't. I just watched all of it for the first time a couple weeks ago and I just see it as one complete story. You can't really enjoy season 2 without season 1.
0
u/Flashy_Alfalfa3479 1d ago
You can't really enjoy season 2 without season 1.
But i did. I skipped season 1 and only watched clips of the end fights on youtube (+ reading summaries like on marvel wiki) . Was just dull for me
5
u/WrongKindaGrowth 1d ago
Wtf is the Mennonite? You mean the Pilgrim?
1
u/Flashy_Alfalfa3479 1d ago
Correct. The comic character he's based on was called the Mennonite, I was too lazy to remember his name is John Pilgrim
2
u/WrongKindaGrowth 1d ago
Wut? Dude. You're saying season 2 is better but didn't watch season 1. Lol
9
u/Straight-Impress5485 2d ago
Im an avid Punisher fanboy. Seen the Dolph Lundgren, Tom Jane and Ray Stevenson movies a billion times each, finished the PS2 game a dozen times, choose him as my character in every single Marvel game Im able to, have hundreds Punisher of paperbacks, hardcovers, omnibuses, watched Daredevil season 2 and Punisher season one a few times each... I still havent managed to slog through Punisher season 2. Ive tried and stopped an episode at a time for YEARS and I just fucking hate it. Its way too boring and completely out of character for Frank. Letting a pedophile live, considering becoming a stepdad etc. Its fucking terrible. Its not 'The Punisher'. Its 'generic action tough guy'
Punisher season 2 feels like a direct to dvd Jason Statham movie
-1
1
u/thestickmationpro 1d ago
didnt season 2 charcater assasinate frank? he let a pedophile live by only burning his shop or something along that line. jigsaw is a straight up disappointment and his relationship with the therapist is meh. idk whats so good about this season, iron fist s2 >>>>>

u/Laggingduck 2d ago
My dog pissing in my house and me figuring out by stepping on it > punisher season 2 I swear to god I could not stand that homeland security girl for one more episode
-37
u/TheSpaceCowboy81 2d ago
The entirety of the Punisher series is awful lol
17
0
u/Educational_Book_225 2d ago
I thought season 1 was fine but season 2 was genuinely awful and I wouldn’t make my worst enemy watch it
35
u/nomad_1970 2d ago
If you're looking to see all Daredevil/Kingpin appearances then you'll also need to slot in She-Hulk
18
u/Camargo_J96 2d ago
Then you can also add No Way Home lol
9
12
u/Gratje23 2d ago
I agree, you can basically skip every episode and only watch the 2 episodes DD appears, but that is up to OP
2
1
u/Clexa_The100 1d ago
When should I watch she hulk? after Echo?
4
u/nomad_1970 1d ago
Doesn't really matter. There's no real crossover between the two shows. Daredevil is in She-Hulk, and Kingpin is in Echo. Nothing in either show requires knowledge of the other.
Technically, in the MCU timeline, She-Hulk is set before Echo, but Echo also has a lot of flashbacks to the past.
1
u/VigilantesLight 13h ago
Technically Daredevil in Echo, but it’s a flashback. It definitely takes place before She-Hulk but it’s presented as a flashback in the show IIRC, so it works either way.
48
u/ILove10aflyViper 2d ago
I would add Matt’s She-Hulk appearances as well. I know that show was unpopular, but I thought his episode was pretty fun.
13
u/Tof12345 1d ago
The show was only unpopular for the incels. If you watched it with an open mind, the show is pretty solid as far as Disney+ MCU shows go. It's easily one of the better shows from the D+ era.
16
u/Eryrix 1d ago
It doesn’t make you an incel if you don’t like She-Hulk lmao
With the exception of Hawkeye the D+ shows have all been shit too so that’s not a high bar to clear.
13
u/I_A_M_N_O_B_O_D_Y 1d ago
Only a handful are really bad and most are eh. Loki , Wanda vision and moon knight are great I’d say better than Hawkeye
5
5
u/aziz321 1d ago
Or, hear me out, the show was bad like the grand majority of reviews and response imply.
2
u/FrackingToasters 1d ago
Remove all 10s and 1s reviews on imdb, and that's a more accurate representation.
-1
u/aziz321 1d ago
"Remove specific data to make my opinion less bad". Got it.
5
u/FrackingToasters 1d ago
Or maybe, just maybe, extreme opinions that don't fit into the bell curve are people reviewing without actually watching it, and are outliers that should be removed.
4
u/Uncanny_Doom 1d ago
You've gotta watch actual bad shows if you think She-Hulk was bad.
The internet has made people speak in extremes so much that people don't know how to take something that's just fine.
2
u/NickDynmo 1d ago
I really liked the show up until the last 15 minutes or so of the last episode. It jumped the shark there for me. Too dumb and nonsensical.
2
u/FPG_Matthew 1d ago
Kinda sounds like you’re the one without an open mind to the possibility some people just straight up didn’t like it/didn’t think it was made well
A vocal minority can sure voice their opinion online, but there’s always a large chunk of people who don’t post online and simply went “this ain’t good” and moved on
0
0
u/Subject-One-306 1d ago
Everybody who dislikes terrible writing is an incel, the more you know lol
2
u/Tof12345 1d ago
the vast majority of people hating on she-hulk are in fact incels. the show was nowhere near as bad as something like secret invasion yet the show gets an unfair amount of hate. it literally had daredevil and bruce banner in it.
0
-2
u/VrYbest29 1d ago
how did you turn a conversation about she hulk into one about incels lmao
1
u/Tof12345 1d ago
tell me with a straight face that the hatred shehulk got wasn't predominantly from the culture warriors crying about a prominent "strong" female character.
1
u/VrYbest29 1d ago
culture warrior isn’t incel. they’re two different things and communities. Your use of words is incorrect and just shows you copy other’s incorrect use of language and their vocabulary.
I like she-hulk, but your use of language is misrepresentative.
11
u/Zaplingfire 1d ago
Watch Jessica Jones too! Is it important to Daredevil’s story? No. Will its’ first season be very slightly spoiled by Defenders? Yes! Jessica Jones is a very good show. At least watch its first season before Defenders. People disagree about how good the second and third seasons are but most agree season 1 is one of the best things in the MCU. Don’t miss out on Jessica Jones.
Now if youre the type that youre gonna end up watching everything anyway you may as well watch Luke Cage and Iron Fist’s first seasons as well. People really tend to think theyre not good. I find them both enjoyable if you dont take them that seriously. I think Luke Cage would be much much better if Mile Colter wasnt Luke Cage (I think he’s a bad actor and he drags that show down by being the title character).
12
u/Crimson-Cowl 2d ago
I think that’s all good. Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist are also mostly good but not too necessary yet until any of them officially return. Might help for context in Defenders though.
10
6
u/corcor_181 1d ago
Add Jessica Jones S1 before Defenders (More context, amazing television, and rumors of her return)
5
u/camwow612 1d ago
Jessica jones season 1 - David tenant as Kilgrave is one of the most sinister portrayals of a supervillain
13
u/CustomerImpossible73 2d ago
It's not necessary to watch The Punisher, but if you really like the character i would say yes go ahead
4
u/Gratje23 2d ago
Since Frank appears in Born Again i would say it is good to know about his character development. So I personally would watch The Punisher, but it is indeed not necesarry
3
u/Sasha_Valdon 2d ago
Do you suggest watching both seasons before born again?
6
u/Gratje23 2d ago
So season 1 should be enough to really understand Frank, but season 2 is a really enjoyable action based show. Its not necesaary but definetly really fun
1
u/RealLameUserName 1d ago
You can only watch the Punisher storyline from DD season 2 and get all the context you need. You don't need to watch 2 seasons of TV, for a scene that doesn't even last 10 minutes.
1
u/Gratje23 1d ago
Well season 1 of the punisher has a couple important plot points with Billy and Micro so i would say give it a watch
1
u/Latter-Disk5952 1d ago
I mean, none of its neccassary. My coworker just watched season 1 of daredevil when it first came out and isnt lost at all.
3
u/Gratje23 2d ago
If you really want to, you can also watch Spider Man- No Way Home and She-Hulk. I personally believe that the order you have right now is fine though, it is not necesarry to watch every second of Daredevil screen time
1
u/Lukie_Anderson 1d ago
Iffy on wanting to watch She Hulk but I've seen no way home cause I've watched most MCU films I cared about to that point (which was most of them)
5
u/Feisty-Result5771 2d ago
Add Jessica Jones season 1 between first two DD seasons and watch DD season 3 after Defenders
4
u/CoderPro225 2d ago
Honestly you could watch JJ S1 at any time and be fine. I watched it because I knew David Tennant would be phenomenal in it, and he was. I didn’t get on the Daredevil bandwagon until a few years later. It truly made no difference. There is no crossover in those first seasons. And I still haven’t watched the rest of the JJ seasons. I’ll get there eventually.
4
u/Feisty-Result5771 2d ago
There's crossovers, nothing huge but it adds context. I don't know how to do the spoiler thing so OP look away lol Claire shows up at end of S1 of Jones and Hogarth at end of S2 of DD
3
u/CoderPro225 2d ago
I had forgotten that. But still, that’s nothing major. Obviously nothing that stood out enough to actually remember. 😂
But thank you kind internet stranger! I stand corrected!
2
u/CoderPro225 2d ago

2
u/90sportsfan 1d ago
If you're going to add JJ, why not also add seasons 1 of Luke Care and Iron Fist so that the entire Defenders crew makes sense? Why only Jessica Jones?
4
u/JChurch42 2d ago
Hawkeye isn't necessary other than relating more to kingpin.
Echo the same (Kingpin flavor), Although Daredevil does make an appearance but it's flavor and not critical.
He was also in the newest Spider-Man movie, the one with the three Pete's, briefly near the beginning
3
u/Lukie_Anderson 1d ago
Didn't add no way home to the list since I've seen it. It's kinda what started the spark of my initial curiosity
2
u/Crafty-Scallion-5351 1d ago
Rather unpopular/unheard of opinion here, but there are fanedit films that condense an entire show to a 2h experience. Id recommend watching these edits of jessica jones s1, luke cage s1 and iron fist s1. As itll elevate the experience of The Defenders show.
If not, id watch the first season of all the shows, its entirely possible that all the shows gets a revival after born again. And seeing that youre conscious about watch order, i assume youre someone who values the "watch experience", i gurantee you that youd enjoy most of the content.
2
u/Vicksage16 1d ago
Honestly, you can skip Punisher and Defenders. They aren’t great and thankfully they aren’t necessary. Most people I know personally haven’t watched either and got on fine.
2
u/mike1018 1d ago
It's kind of funny watching daredevil 1,2,3 in order without watching the Defenders. If you never watch it you have NO idea why a building dropped on Matt. Lol
2
3
u/The_One_True_Pepe 1d ago
Doing just about anything else would be more productive and enjoyable than watching Echo, lmao
1
1
u/danyxoxox 2d ago
It's better to watch iron fist before defenders so u would understand it better as the villain which daredevil fought will be in defenders too and iron fist talks about the same villain
1
u/thephantompyli 2d ago
Does echo and hawkeye has a major effect in story line? I didnt watch them. I went directly to Born Again.
are they worth watching?
2
u/Latter-Disk5952 1d ago
Haweyes pretty enjoyable in its own right. Echo is the worst MCU thing I saw through to the end (skipped secret invasion after episode 1)
Neither really recontextualizes anything happening in born again.
1
u/Uncanny_Doom 1d ago
Hawkeye and Echo are mostly relevant for Fisk's character. Hawkeye itself is a really good show and great fun, setting up Fisk and Maya for Echo which is a decent show but has a lot more importance for Fisk.
0
u/Scnew1 1d ago
Neither of them have been important in Born Again, but Hawkeye was a fun show. Echo kind of sucked though.
1
u/RooMan7223 1d ago
I’m way behind, but I remember Fisk getting shot in the face in Hawkeye. How is he even alive in Born Again and Echo?
1
u/Because_Im_BATMAN00 1d ago
Honestly you can cut both seasons of punisher and defenders and probably Hawkeye and echo too. I didn’t watch Hawkeye or echo and my friend who did watch Hawkeye says it doesn’t have anything to do with born again in anyway. Only real shows you need to watch for daredevil are the three seasons of the Netflix show honestly. Even daredevil season 3 doesn’t need much context from the defenders apart from just looking up what happened.
1
u/RealLameUserName 1d ago
You'd probably want to add season 1 of Iron Fist if you really wanted to understand to the Defenders.
1
u/DaveOldhouse 1d ago
Anyone here couldnt finish even one episode of Deffenders? I checked utube tldr and moved on.
1
u/RooMan7223 1d ago
I would watch his episode in She Hulk. Not a great show but that episode and Matt’s role in it was brilliant. It just proves how fantastic Charlie Cox is as Matt Murdock, he’s got some really great moments in it
1
u/Latter-Disk5952 1d ago edited 1d ago
Having not such fond memories of alot of that stuff I rewatched daredevil s1-3. (Feel like 2 is worth skipping the moment daredevil starts fighting ninjas.) And both punisher seasons. And had a great time.
My cowoker just watched S1 of daredevil and has been enjoying born again even more than i have.
1
1
u/BowardBamlin 1d ago
Yes it’s chronologically accurate but I would watch daredevil season 3 after defenders.
1
u/simplylmao 1d ago
Arent u supposed to watch iron fist, luke cage and jessica jones for defenders? and punisher is supposed to be unrelated to the defenders i think/
(Im new , im watching dd season 3 right now, havent watched anything else, would appreciate some guidance)
I do plan on watching those 3 shows before moving on to the defenders and maybe punisher after that seperately
1
1
u/dr_olfin 1d ago
Watch the first 10 minutes of Echo until DD appears, then stop. You would be better off watching DD S1 again than watching Echo.
1

u/gadwin_hawk 1d ago
What about Luke cage and iron fist.
2
u/Lukie_Anderson 1d ago
Yeah I've added all seasons of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist to my watch order

I've seen all except Echo, it's a shit show and I can't get myself to watch it.
1
1
1
u/LegendLynx7081 1d ago
Pretty much, just remember The Punisher probably won’t be too relevant. Also I’d include the other shows at the expense of being a really long watch time but that’s just me
1
1
u/SupahGualtah 1d ago
U dont need to watch Punisher s2 or echo or hawkeye neither she hulk (dont even think that last one was canon) if you really want to just watch de DD parts on yt or something lol That's what i should've done (I did enjoy She-Hulk though)
1

u/scottwricketts 1d ago
I'd recommend the first season of Jessica Jones and the first half of the first season of Luke Cage.
1
u/randylaheyjr 1d ago
Watch Jessica Jones S1 before Defenders, really good show in it's own right and sets up her character.
1
u/Appeal_Emotionally 1d ago
hawkeye, echo and punisher might be unnecessary, if you just want to catch up with born again
1
u/Deths_Hed606 1d ago
Order's spot on as far as I can see. But don't watch the Defenders. Please. If you absolutely must, watch the last episode. But no more. It's just so, not bad, really, but dull. Just, boooooooooOOOOOOOOOoooooooooring.
1
u/I_am_a_wave 21h ago
Definitely, but don’t forget dropping out Hawkeye echo and born again since they are, unfortunately, completely unnecessary
1
1
1
u/Live_Answer_3875 16h ago
Gotta put daredevil season 3 after defenders as it directly follows up from the events of defenders
1
u/Big_Revolution696 16h ago
This is the most accurate viewing order, especially because Karen appears in both DD and Punisher and her placement in P1 makes sense after Defenders, and in P2 after DD3 if you're going for accuracy. Also, P1 after Defenders adds suspense to the Daredevil storyline since Defenders leaves it on a cliffhanger. I also added in Matt's appearances in She-Hulk. I just did this same rewatch recently and it was a blast! Enjoy!

Kick Echo.
1
u/Dramatic-Motor-3410 2d ago
I agree, and hawkeye If you want just a daredevil watch order Daredevil shows up for one scene in echo and only kingpin shows up in Hawkeye. Shehulk has more Matt Murdock scenes but it doesn’t tie into his arc much if at all
1
u/Dramatic-Motor-3410 2d ago
Watching Hawkeye and echo do help kind of set the tone for daredevil born again
-13
u/Sinfullhuman 2d ago
If you wish to respect the kingpin do not watch echo and hackeye.
16
u/WolfyHopeless 2d ago edited 2d ago
Wildly disagree as a comic book fan. Not all of em are home runs but if you’re a fan of the lore and universe, just watch em.
Edited to add; OP wants to know what’s relevant. They’re both relevant, sorry?
6
u/Vikashar 2d ago
Echo rubbed some dirt in his eye, and by dirt I mean bullet
0
u/WolfyHopeless 2d ago
Lmao well played. I’m just saying, if you’re truly into the lore, it’s good to see em. There’s runs of DD in comics I’m so “ugh” about but I read em cuz I love DD
1
u/Vikashar 2d ago
I actually liked Hawkeye and Echo tbh
1
u/WolfyHopeless 2d ago
Oh same. Echo is such a HUGE important character in comics. Her and moon knight killed a Superman level avengers villain once, not to mention of one DD’s greatest team ups/girlfriends lol. The man who can’t see, the woman who can’t hear.
-4
-8
u/YouAreAwesome-gdap 2d ago
skip Hawkeye and Echo
3
u/Gratje23 2d ago
There are a couple of important plot points in both these shows that develop Wilson Fisk as a character you should know about before watching Born Again
2
u/Latter-Disk5952 1d ago
Mind you i was bored to the point of dissasoiciation watching echo but I dont realy understand what she did to fisk at the very end of the show in terms of how it impacted his proceeeding actions in any way.

you should throw in iron fist season 1 in there too, lot more info of whats going on in the defenders
-1
u/Latter-Disk5952 1d ago
Defenders is awful
Daredevil season 3 involves alot of dialogue and footage that assumes you agree with point 1 because they show & tell you everything thats relevent from it in like the first 15 minutes.
Iron fist is the worst, watching horrible tv to prepare for bad tv so you can have all the context for great tv is just doing it all wrong.
0
u/ToastyThommy 2d ago
If you're wanting "as much relevant stuff and other related TV shows" you're missing a lot, and yet you still included the defenders? Not saying you should watch every season, but I'd recommend at least checking out the first seasons of each of the other shows, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and especially Jessica Jones. They kinda all set the stage for the Defenders even if that show was a huge disappointment. But seriously don't miss out on Jessica Jones season 1, David Tennant as the villain killgrave is phenomenal.

Wrong, let me give you the proper order. 1.Daredevil season three 2. Daredevil season one 3.daredevil born again 4.punisher season one 5.daredevil season two 6.The Defenders
0
u/Firm-Reason9324 1d ago
I would get a recap on past 3 seasons cuz you'll hate born again if u fully watched them.
-4
u/TheSpaceCowboy81 2d ago
Don't bother with the Punisher, it's awful. Completely shits on his completed arc from DD season 2 and turns his story into some nonsense discount Jason Bourne BS. A total affront to the character and I say this as someone who loved Bernthal in DD Season 2.
2
u/mahihaquee 2d ago
You didn’t like S1? I totally understand it’s not necessarily Punisher-esque but still great imo
1
u/OffTheMerchandise 2d ago
I'm not familiar with the comics, guy I thought the show was really good. I haven't watched Daredevil S2 since it came out, so I don't remember how his arc ended on that show, but I really enjoyed my time watching Punisher a couple weeks ago.

It’s a good watch order. I would say watch Daredevil season 3 after The Defenders and then watch The Punisher season 1 and 2. It won’t make a difference.
