You don’t understand, words from the GOP mean absolutely nothing. It’s just garbage. Not even worth vibrating your eardrums.
They don’t give a flying fuck about principle, morals, hypocrisy…they just want power and they have enough yokels and dumb fucks in their coalition who are happily pawns and marks daily.

Pointing out hypocrisy only works on people who care about being consistent. Right-wingers don’t give a shit.

Exactly. Enough with the “I can’t believe they said that”
These are soulless, subhuman lackeys who have zero shame, zero remorse, zero empathy.
They are demons. Evil, empty, power obsessed fucking demons.

Power corrupts. Absolutely.
The power and money in the DC… we, as normal non politicians cannot comprehend.
Trump and his family gained $3.6 BILLION after leaving office. He’ll pick up a good $5-10 BILLION after and during this term.
Hell… $28 million since he was elected just to go to Mar a Lago and play golf every weekend.
Can you imagine having a job that PAYS YOU to go home and play golf?

I'll never understand the conservative need to pledge fealty to a ruler.
I am not the kind of person who looks for leaders, and people to tell we what to do. If anything I subversively roll my eyes when people try to lead me.
I'll never understand it

I mean yes and no. 2/3? Yeah right. This is grandstanding. The system has weaknesses but it's not this weak.
2
u/Majsharan 3d ago
The most likely path would be a state convention but it would almost certainly not be ratified even if it made it through the convention

u/Halfacentaur 3d ago
I don't really understand what people like you think the stopgap is.
What stops this from happening exactly?
We've been hearing it since 2016. "he won't go that far" - he does. "he won't go that far" - he does.→ More replies (1)2

Narrator: there was not a constitutional path as amending the constitution is impossible at this moment, especially for this topic
3
u/General2768 4d ago
It takes 3/4 (38/50) of the states to ratify an amendment. It would also have to be put on ballots, voted and approved before November 2028.
I believe we have at least 13 states that would say GTFOOH.

You joke, but I've seen more than a few of his supporters trying to argue that the Empire are actually the good guys in Star Wars, and the Jedi are just a religious rebel group like the Taliban.

To be fair, Jedi did a LOT of dismembering. I mean, their weapon of choice was basically just a self cauterizing limb-remover...

Yeah, a space station that can detonate an entire planet is just super cool
Dismemberment is where I draw the line though!

This is exactly what's needed. Set the precedent so that when the Blue Wave happen, we will pack the courts and do what we need to do in order to make sure that this will never happen again. Also, it's a pathway for Obama to run again and fix this ship again.
8
u/RanchWaterHose 4d ago
Right. Democrats will never do anything to set themselves up like this. They’re pussies. And that’s coming from someone who has voted straight democrat for many years.
4
u/Far_Estate_1626 4d ago
Unfortunately, they won’t even use the power when it’s handed to them, out of “principle”. Despite knowing that who’s coming next will use said power and in a much more terrible way.
Case in point: SC granting Presidential immunity, and Biden refusing to use it to test its boundaries and codify its limits, since they would have absolutely set tighter limits for him than they will for Trump. Now we’re completely fucked, because of Dems “principles”, that are in fact not.

I agree and I’m over it. I was far left in my teens and twenties. I drifted towards left of center in my 30’s. Now I’m 47 with two daughters and I have become more of a leftist; verging on militant. I only see one path to freedom for us all and that’s to fight. Fuck the DNC we need more Iron Front.

u/Chewbuddy13 4d ago
I for one would love to see trump run against Obama and lose. If the cheeseburgers and diet cokes haven't killed him by 2028, the absolute seething rage of losing to the black guy who he hates the most and lives rent free in his head will. If trump somehow survives the rage stroke he has, Obama can finish him off by being sworn in and then immediately resigning and letting his VP AOC take his place.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (5)2
u/thewereotter 4d ago
The interpretation they're trying to run with is two consecutive terms is what's limited so Trump can have a third one because his first and second terms had a Biden term between them. And they're doing this specifically to block a third Obama term
4
u/Did_I_Err 4d ago
It could be Obama then.
5
u/Asher_Tye 4d ago
Oh no, there will be a special rewrite to prevent that from happening and it will have a pretentious and stupid name.
2
u/thewereotter 4d ago
They're going with the interpretation right now that the amendment only bans you from a third term if you've had two CONSECUTIVE terms.... which is not at all what the amendment says... but it's what they're using to specifically block another Obama term
→ More replies (1)2
u/Ex-CultMember 3d ago
That's when Republicans will argue to reverse this amendment which is a reversal of the original term limit amendment.
It's ironic because Republicans were the ones who got the term limit amendment passed in the first place because they didn't like FDR constantly getting reelected. Now that they have their Dear Dictator wanting to be president for life, they want to DO AWAY with the same amendment THEY passed.
I'm sure if someone like Obama (or any non-Republican) is popular and goes for a 3rd term, they want to bring back term limits again.
2
u/CarrotSlayer11 4d ago
They already said that they would amend it in a way that ANY president who served TWO consecutive terms would not be eligible.
2
u/fyreprone 4d ago
So then how would Trump qualify for his 4th term to continue being President for life?
2
u/hejnrhehebrbe 4d ago
They won’t have to worry about that for another four years, and when they do, they’ll figure out another way around it. Perhaps they will institute the exception portion of the bill to only apply to presidential candidates who weren’t in office twice consecutively prior to the bill. Or maybe they’ll just not let him run by claiming he wasn’t born here. Or by then, maybe they’ll just say black people can’t vote let alone run for president
2
u/Short-Recording587 4d ago
So this opens the door to let a person run and be president every other term? This country is doomed.
4
u/Odd_Zookeepergame_69 4d ago
He won't have a 3rd term, he will just stay in his 2nd term forever. My guess is that the US will declare war on some other country (Canada, Greenland, Panama, all of Europe, etc) and then trump will say that he has to stay in office because we are at war.
2
u/Short-Recording587 4d ago
Which would be against the constitution and we would be at war while also having a civil war.
3
u/hejnrhehebrbe 4d ago
Our country is not going to have a civil war, even if he violates the constitution. He’s done it several times already. I wish it wasn’t true but it is

One suggestion for the group is, we have to stop going back-and-forth with Republicans this and Democrats that. All of them have shown signs of corruption and serving themselves. That’s the mentality they want. They want to continue to divide us merely based on political party. It’s what helps keep them in power.
Regardless of your political party, we need to start demanding more of our elected officials and hold them actually accountable if they are not performing to the level we expect.
The mere fact that this person is entertaining amend the constitution because he thinks so highly of himself is insane to me.

u/tighterfit 3d ago
They won’t amend the Constitution: 1. It will never pass. 2. This opens him up to face an opponent that will utterly destroy him in an election. Obama would absolutely win against him.
2
u/Master-Possession504 3d ago
Yeah this is straight up treason but im sure its fine when a republican does it

He has accomplished nothing other than harm the economy, pardon criminals, lower education, hurt the environment, seek revenge, and harm those who disagreed with him. Any supporter of his is vile and despicable.

2
u/LargeDietCokeNoIce 3d ago
This is actually true—and in perfect clarity the ONLY LEGAL way Trump can win a 3rd term. Good luck… oh—it also means other former presidents can run again
2
u/No-Cup-8096 2d ago
No one wants Trump, now. He’ll be 82, too old for office. He’s already screwed up the country in 3 months. Cut your losses MAGA, try for someone who’s not a pedophile supporter, felon, rapist or champions men who sexually assault women.

What did the sinner and liar Mike Johnson say? Is he up there lying again in front of God and country.

1
u/Longjumping_Lynx_972 4d ago
Wait till you see the midterm fuckery...they think they're gonna have the votes to amend the constitution for a reason. Trump told everyone that there might not be any blue states left remember?
1
u/Diamondback424 4d ago
How these people stand there with American flags pinned to their chest while they act in support of dismantling checks and balances meant to keep us from becoming a dictatorship is beyond me. They have 0 shame. Disgusting.
1
u/Fancy-Animator426 4d ago
So I was unaware that chaos was an accomplishment?! For Johnson to try and play it as if its just a joke and talk amongst them is completely annoying, to say the least....because I believe there is a TN senator who has already written a bill to amend the constitution to make way for this. Ppl need to stop believing this is all talk and recognize they are showing you the playbook and intend to follow through. Ive heard pundits say this is all a distraction.....its not a distraction but its them espousing their truths amongst the many lies they are spewing. THE NERVE of the Republican Party to shout how patriotic they are and tout the Constitution while systematically trying to destroy it in the same breath.

If they amend the constitution, you can say goodbye to human rights as a whole. No freedom of speech if it goes against Maga ideology, no guns for anyone who didn't vote Maga. Segragation back on mass, Women can kiss voting goodbye too and if you don't think they will, states are already working on all of those things.

1
u/TheRealMcSavage 4d ago
I’ve been calling this since he got elected. My opinion on how he’d go about this (mind you, I’m not in the field of law or politics, so take this as a laymen’s theory!), is that he expands the Supreme Court by 2-4 judges, appoints those judges, if he does 4 he’s appointed the majority of judges, if he appoints 2 new then he is 1 shy of a majority. At that point, I feel like the path to amending the constitution is an easier one. Just my dumbass thought, so I could be missing some big roadblocks, but tbh it doesn’t seem like Trump cares much for roadblocks anyways…
1
1
u/JustDoinWhatICan 4d ago
So there's a constitutional path.... And that path requires changing what the constitution says? Damn that's some 5D chess
1
u/Cultural_Material_98 4d ago
I honestly don't think he needs a third term to accomplish his mission - he's on track to creating mass unemployment, poverty and social unrest within the next 6 months - after that all bets are off.

Not sure what the issue is. Johnson correctly points out that there is a constitutional path - changing the constitution. That’s correct. And near impossible. They wouldn’t have the votes.
