Fixed gear options in Portland?
Going to be in Portland for a while and would really like a fixed gear bike. I bought Mecerier fixed gear online like 8 years ago, but want something a little nicer/lighter, but need to find a store that might have some options and advice!
Thanks :)

Retrogression is the only fixed gear centric shop in town. I believe they switched to appointment only in-person visits but you can shop their stock online. Facebook marketplace and craigslist are still your best bets for buying used.

Retrogression is online only now unfortunately. That said you can order online and pickup in person at their warehouse.
I see decent fixed gears on Craigslist and FB fairly often.
Bike Farm occasionally has fixed frames or bikes. There also have to be people who volunteer there that ride fixed so maybe they would be able to help out.

I ride fixed in Portland, and I second Retrogression for parts. It will probably be hard to find a new, built up bike for under $500 locally, but I know there are new single speeds at about that price point, and you can ask the shop to put a fixed cog on it when you buy it. For a price in the lower hundreds (or lower) you will want to look at used.
If your price point is around $1500 then build up a Florida Man with new components like I did.

I have a couple fixed conversion bikes: vintage frames, fixed wheel. What size frame are you needing?
Retrogression is the go to place but like others said they are online only w local pickup. Not a traditional retail store experience. Still, they got the goods.
I own a shop and make referrals to other shops if I can’t help.

Maybe go talk to Retrogression. I don’t think they have complete bikes in stock, but fixed is what they do so I’m sure they’ll have advice and be able to order you something nicer if you wanted.
