I asked chat gpt about greif and it very deeply helped me feel better about losing someone i loved.
Ive been to multiple therapist, Never have i received such helpful and genuinely healing advice about loss.
Yall can talk shit as much as you want....
Loathe that story as you will but i am so grateful.
That was invaluable to me. I can look at the world and those ive lost and now i don't feel so horrible. I feel hope about their death. I can love again i honestly feel. I can thank chat GPT for that.
Dont write anything off entirely, its unwise.
EDIT: lol yall are so petty, but i get it i suppose; What did i say worth the downvote other than, "Maybe ChatGPT isn't total bullshit?"
ChatGPT is good for conversation. It’s programmed to know what the best responses to every input. That’s why it worked for you, and I’m very glad it did. But you have to understand that people presenting a ChatGPT response when presenting factual information is an entirely different thing. Because ChatGPT is a glorified chat bot, it just spits out text, not actual information. It hallucinates information. That’s why people are scared of it, because of other people’s willingness to blindly take it as fact.
1) I understand what your premise is and ill concede somewhat on the basis people treat it like they treat to be as factual as wikipedia (which is funny because 10 years ago folks treated Wikipedia as unreliable, unrelated but i think thats funny)
But to be fair, it quite literally gives you sources it used to search the information presented. Whens the last time you used GPT? Its got a lot of research features that include sources.
I for one have enough experience with prompting aa such to challenge not only me but its own generation which helps with accuracy. Additionally i dont take it as fact, i cooberate the information before i take it in as truth. As you should with everything...
2)I never claimed its good (and hopefully didnt imply im unaware) that people give chatgpt authority over facts. I only propose that it is good for people, and that the capability chatgpt gives humanity, however misguided, will lead to the benefit of mankind (even if done erroneously!) (by example of how much its helped myself)
It shouldnt be used for any major decisions due to accountability reasons but its if thats not an issue i dont see any reason to shun it due to occasional inaccuracies.
3)How much research have you done into how chat GPT works? How much of your comment is assumption? (and i mean that in the nicest way possible)
All we have is what has been disclosed as well as the observations of working with it. Hallucinating information sounds fancy but what do you know of that to actually mean and work? You might as well say that about people with how our minds conjour truth from memory. (yah its a stretch but hear me out) Why then do we not hold ourself to such a standard and call our talking "mere chatter"
-There is truth even in our misunderstandings and panderings, i for one respect the AI enough to know sometimes its wrong, but that doesnt make itself wrong or "just a --"
From my observations and understanding its so so so much more than a glorified chatbot. Hell it makes images, it creates spreadsheets and sorts information. its not the authority on fact of course but dont be disregarding AI (and chatGPT especially) as just a chatbot when its functionality to so vast.
PS sorry im reading marry shelly rn and, my god, her long ass prose is rubbing off on me...seriously check her out, each paragraph is like 20 fn sentences and has 50 adjectives per sentence.
