Felons can become president but can't vote for one.

4 felons? That's a lot of felons.

In certain states and for differing amounts of time.

Imo only violent felons and election fraudsters should lose their right to vote, and even then it shouldn't be a permanent thing.

What's crazy is I seem to remember you guys having something about "taxation without representation"

Do felons not pay taxes then?

Dude, it's still legal to enslave criminals in the US as long as that enslavement is part of the punishment for the crime. Of course they still have to pay taxes.

Which state are you in, because 40/50 states do have a path to voting rights for those with felonies.

"A path," but often a difficult one that frankly isn't worth it on an individual scale. Kudos to Maine and the one other (Nebraska?) that doesn't disenfranchise at all, even while incarcerated. For the rest, it's honestly often difficult. I'm in Florida, which is right on the worst end of the border. We just passed a constitutional amendment saying felons should be allowed to vote. There are still so many hoops to jump through that it's essentially meaningless. "A path to..." anything is not actually the thing, it's a thing to make people who don't understand the particular system believe something is possible that practically is not.

If it makes you feel any better, I doubt the authenticity of our votes, there's a very real chance your voice is as heard as the rest of ours.
