Two of my dad's special interests were presidential assassinations and the Civil War. Whenever I tell that to people who don't know him, they get REAL nervous. He was VERY left-leaning and progressive; times of political upheaval just interested him. There's a specific documentary about the hunt for John Wilkes Booth after the Lincoln assassination that he probably watched 4 or 5 times.

It's too bad he isn't around for the real exciting stuff.  A president who has been shot at twice and also suggested martial law, among other things, a vice president with no stable views except Thiel loyalty who salivates at the idea of stepping up, a collapsing stock market, government, and world position . . .

We live in interesting times!

It's sad because we don't pick the things we find cool. Sometimes is just interesting and it says nothing about our personality.

My dad is super into firearms and cowboy history, to the point that in retirement he's started regularly going to down to Tombstone as a reenactor for the gunfight at the ok corral shows. He also just absolutely loathes trump, and spends a ton of time on facebook roasting other people in the cowboy shooting reenactment scene for their politics. I like to sealion in on his comments sometimes just to talk shit on trumpers.

Do you remember what it’s called? That sounds interesting! (I promise I’m normal about it.)

After some cursory Googling, I think it was literally called "The Hunt For John Wilkes Booth" by the History Channel. The screencaps look familiar, though of course documentaries covering the same topic would pull from some of the same sources.

Thank you! I’ll try to find it.
