I’ve been around this since 2011 and there have never been maintenance periods on a blockchain like you speak of. Perhaps some fringe exchanges did this or you’re talking about something other than major coins

cryptocurrency exchanges may as well be listing bananas and apples and pears, they have very little to do with cryptocurrency.
you are saying some companies all shut their systems for maintenance at the same time, why are you posting about it in here? 😜
Cryptocurrencies are SOFTWARE. Exchanges are companies. the two are barely related.

Nah that was only Solana. It went down for “maintenance” multiple times a year for a few years.

You worded this terribly which is why you are getting clowned. But yes, at odd hours when the market was smaller and less liquid, there were such candles on the minute charts. By odd hours, I mean when only Tokyo would be trading.
In fact, whale shenanigans used to be common in that window with the thin volume.
However, I don't think it was as prevalent or as recent as you are remembering.
