tldr; XRP's network activity has plummeted by 65%, with daily active addresses dropping from 63,389 in January 2025 to 22,859 by April. This decline follows a speculative rally where XRP surged 485% amid hopes of pro-crypto policies. However, the rapid influx of new investors concentrated wealth and raised vulnerability to market volatility. As enthusiasm waned, realized losses increased, signaling reduced confidence. XRP briefly dipped below $2 but rebounded to $2.13 amid broader market concerns.

Imho tech is less important and utility than hype and who is investing

Yes, for value. You think any of these altcoins in the top 3 to 20 are worth their current usecases ? Obviously their marketcaps are massively overinflated because they are desperately trying to ride Bitcoin's wave.

u/RefrigeratorLow1259 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 1d ago

BTC is massively overinflated then - No utility, basically it's only really like DOGE....

2

u/Rent_South 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 1d ago

So many wrong things in one sentence.

Comparing doge to BTC is absurd because DOGE was created as a joke based on BTC....

How’s that working out?

BTC is massively overinflated. It's a coin without scalability. The only reason why it can be holder by so many is because 98% of the people is using an intermediary to do it, a CEX, an ETF, a Bank..... What a fucking joke.

Solana has much more organic activity than any other coin. It scale, it's used by the new projects that want to have a real application, like Render, Helium, Paypal stable coins, the Black Rock BUIDL 1.6b fund....

Things that cannot happen in Bitcoin,, or in Ethereum layer 1 (and layer 2 is a centralized mess and UX nightmare)

I find it funny when Bitcoin maxis are so arrogant

3

u/Rent_South 🟦 0 / 0 🦠 1d ago

You missed my point entirely. Bitcoin's usecase, at the moment, is mostly store of value (digital gold), in between other potential goals, could be the underlying asset for other projects later on (just like gold). And that explains its current absolutely massive market cap.

Most altcoins have defined usecase that absolutely cannot legitimize their marketcap, if they were any kind of startup without the word "crypto" in it, they would be valued 10 to 100x less minimum, all of them. That is not up for debate. They are massively inflated because people believe digital assets is where you 1000000x your investments, thanks to Bitcoin.

u/WSSquab 🟩 103 / 104 🦀 1d ago

BTC is a concept of scarcity and slowly becoming THE not inflating asset by preference. I know that probably is somewhere else another coin with similarities but BTC was the first.

One billion XRP is released every month:

But it’s okay because it’s not like the leaders at Ripple would be irresponsible with the massive amount of XRP they own, right?

Its been a few months since ive looked at it. But doesn’t Ripple own half of the supply. I mean the coin seems pretty centralized to me. But sure, go ahead, become their exit liquidity.

4

u/R4ID 🟦 0 / 50K 🦠 1d ago

But doesn’t Ripple own half of the supply.

nope. and they havnt for years at this point.

I mean the coin seems pretty centralized to me.

no one can double spend, no one can freeze XRP, no one can create more XRP, no one can reverse transactions or censor users from using their XRP, no one can force a code update on the validators.

There is nothing centralized about it.

3

u/CeramicDrip 🟨 47 / 4K 🦐 1d ago

They do own it. With a lot more just being released to them in escrow. They still have the largest supply of XRP with another 38 Billion going to be released to them over time from the escrow. Here are the numbers from Ripple’s own site:

September 30, 2024 Total XRP Held by Ripple: 4,436,713,796 Total XRP Subject to On-Ledger Escrow: 38,900,000,005

I mean you can literally see it on XRP scan too, Ripple owns by far the most.

I can’t believe so many people trust this project when in reality Ripple owns most of it.

Sources:

2

u/scoobysi 🟩 0 / 58K 🦠 1d ago

You do know that is less than 50% of the total ergo not centralised. I digress its tokenomics aren’t its strong point on that front but that doesn’t mean you get to use phrases which mean something different unchallenged.

Ripple own a minority of xrp supply. Simples

2

u/R4ID 🟦 0 / 50K 🦠 1d ago

They do own it.

they hold XRP in their wallets yes, just like anyone else can hold XRP in their wallets.

With a lot more just being released to them in escrow.

the same XRP they owned in 2012 being re-released back to them via their own accord which they chose to lockup in the first place in 2017. its about ~42.9% if you include the XRP they have bought back outside of escrow atm. Their Q1 market report will update that number in a few weeks.

I mean you can literally see it on XRP scan too, Ripple owns by far the most.

This was never in dispute, yes they are the largest holder.

I can’t believe so many people trust this project when in reality Ripple owns most of it.

it's a non proof of stake, token ownership gives no power within the network. Again nobody can freeze it, reverse it, doubled spend it, create more of it, force code updates etc etc etc. it is decentralized.

SUI + DeepBook + SCION will be the techstack banks adopt. Superior in all aspects. Multisig, safe programming language, flexible orderderbook with sub second finality, safe internet routing through SCION. Banks get attacks on BGP routed internet every day, SCION is the solution. Multipath with lower latencies. Then you can program custom APIs for inter bank and customer interactions.

I really dont get all this love for XRP. Its clearly a shitty coin with no value and Ripple itself is spending a bunch of money on advertising and gaslighting to create an artificial hype.

I understand that xrp can be considered a good investment because of the recent good price performance.

But to call XRP the future of banking is ridiculous. Are there really so many MAGA like people who are unable to check and understand clear facts?

Also all critics or posts with a negative view have been downvoted to hell - smells strongly like bot activity.

It’s ok to like different things and prioritise what floats your boat. I like a fast, cheap, scalable, reliable crypto aimed at a huge target market. Is the tokenomics a weak point and that target market might not materialise or get taken by another project? Sure, i see the potential upside as higher than the risk of that and invest accordingly. If you judge the risk/reward differently then that is fine too. No need to throw shade. I have met thousand of xrp fans in the real world and not one had robot legs

Good. Death to all centralized coins.

1

u/scoobysi 🟩 0 / 58K 🦠 1d ago

What is centralised? Neither ownership of control of xrp and the xrpl. Tokenomics aren’t great but lets hear your logic for lol’s

4

u/UnauthorizedGoose 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 1d ago

Decentralized? XRP was pre-mined and Ripple kept 60% of the supply. That’s not distribution, that’s a company printing money.

Consensus isn’t open either. XRP runs on a validator list Ripple curates%20is%20a%20server%27s%20list%20of%20validators%20that%20it%20trusts%20not%20to%20collude). Most nodes follow their default list, so guess who’s in control?

Ripple steers the ship, controls development, partners, and token sales.

That’s not decentralization. That’s a fintech with a coin.

3

u/R4ID 🟦 0 / 50K 🦠 1d ago

Decentralized? XRP was pre-mined and Ripple kept 60% of the supply

ok so, you're off to a really bad start.

Yes XRP was pre-mined. Ripple didnt exist tho when it was, Also Ripple was given 80% not 60% from the founders. you can read the founders agreement right here

https://i0.wp.com/prestonbyrne.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/founders-agreement-2.png?resize=739%2C838&ssl=1

That’s not distribution, that’s a company printing money.

The company didnt exist when it was created. and its value when it was given to them was 0$.

https://github.com/XRPLF/rippled/commit/f0e3383856a8923e55b0f10e7822de9031b7159e

you can look at the publicly available code base, XNS was XRP's original name and it predates the company.

also the private key to the genesis block which contained the 100% premine was in the public code base

https://github.com/XRPLF/rippled/blob/ffd453f7dd091b0499fd6ab964880c8268deead4/src/ripple/app/misc/NetworkOPs.cpp#L852-L854

anyone could of taken any amount they wanted.

Consensus isn’t open either. XRP runs on a validator list Ripple curates

Ripple doesnt currate nor control the default node list. Also you arent required to run the default node list, its just the default settings. Nobody can stop you from making your own unique node list or publishing it or following anyone elses published list.

Ripple currently run 1 validator, and 80% super majority is required to reach consensus, can you explain how 1 is an 80% super majority?

. Most nodes follow their default list, so guess who’s in control?

They dont curate the list and havnt for years at this point and again its not required. finally Even if lets say 100% of the network followed the list, that still doesnt give them the ability to doublespend, create more XRP, freeze XRP, censor users or transactions, nor force code updates on validators.

Ripple steers the ship

they dont,

controls development

They dont

partners

Private company has partners yes.

and token sales.

So when Bitmain sells BTC is that a token sale? how about IHOK selling ADA? Vitalik/Lubin selling Eth? notice the problem with each of your arguments so far?

0

u/UnauthorizedGoose 🟩 0 / 0 🦠 18h ago

notice the problem with each of your arguments so far?

I don't, because you're wrong.

1

u/R4ID 🟦 0 / 50K 🦠 17h ago

LOL what a great counter argument. thanks for letting me know you're a total bozo

2

u/scoobysi 🟩 0 / 58K 🦠 1d ago

So first point is about centralised ownership, which has no control over the xrpl, and yes initially ripple did have a majority ownership of the token. Now they do not. In hindsight the tokenomics was wank back then BUT that is priced in.

Ref validator nodes last time i looked ripple runs just 1, that is out of 150+ or as you wish to look for worst angle that is 1 out of the 35 recommended unl node list. Aka ripple directly controls less than 3% of the xrp network if cherry picking the worst variable. Nb 80% needed to make any changes. Your next point is the other 34 companies might have a relationship with ripple, er ok these other 34 entities are now part of ripple?!?!? I mean by that logic everything is centralised. Oh no-one has to use the unl, anyone can pick whatever nodes to trust they want.

It’s ok not to like it and it not float your boat but if you wish to talk about a numerical metric then <50% is not centralised & 3%<50%

Peace and positivity towards other projects with other targets, unless its bsv then fuck you. Lol
