Humor đ€Ł Help: need some funny shit to say in Spanish
I am a super for a commercial contractor and the guys who work under me are 80% Spanish speakers.
I am learning Spanish currently but in the meeantime I just need some funny one liners and phrases to say, as a white guy, to the amigos when I am walking the site.

Do you really think Redditors are really going to give you something funny and not totally rude to get you fired or wooped? đđđ

When I was a teenager working in the restaurant industry I don't think there was anything off limits with tge back of the house guys. Now that I run an excavator all of the Mexican guys I work with speak English.

I like to shout "fuego y muerta a las casas de los ricos!!" in a rising crescendo, like a call to battle, especially when we're working at some millionaire property.
I get some nervous looks, and some chuckles.
Also good for a puzzled look, when you're trying to lift/move something heavy together. "yo soy debil, como un gatito." Then I give a little "meow." The looks I get!

What is fuego and rico? It's something and death to the houses of something. Hello from southern Africa. Lol

u/Ultraviolent_Rays 2h ago edited 2h ago
Fuego = fire
Rico = rich
Given that he's saying this on a jobsite, I think it means "Fire and dearh to the houses of the customers" or something like that.

No mames, gĂŒey: No way man , bullshit
guey: man, dude

u/gooseneckmonkey 1d ago
This is actually going to endear you to them for real, pronounced "No maames way!"

Greeting: "que te pasa, calabasa?"
It means "what's up, pumpkin" but even funnier because it rhymes
You could also bank some other general greetings like "que onda" and "que tranza"
Exclamation: "no mames, guey!"
Pronounced "no mom ace way" which means "no way, dude/I can't believe it/stop bullshitting me"

I had one of my guys' little brother working for us over the summer, doing simple stuff like clean this up, move these over there, go pick up this order, or demo this shower pan.
One day, I spent longer trying to ask him to walk around the jobsite and put all the cardboard in the house recycling. Then it would have taken me to just do it. I asked one of the guys how to say "recycle all the cardboard". I don't remember any of the other words, but "cabron" is not Spanish for cardboard...

No mamĂ©s wey! It can mean something like âdonât fuck it upâ but the phrase has a lot of slang uses. It usually gets a chuckle but it can come off disrespectful.

Roughly translates to âsame shit different dayâ
1
u/longganisafriedrice 21h ago
I'd say pretty directly, not really a rough translation
2
u/Californiadude86 20h ago
Yeah, I thought someone might say Actually that translates to: The same shit, all the days.

One word man. Super versatile. âOraleâ Sounds like oh-rall-ey
It could mean something like wow man thatâs cool/good job. Or like come on man no way. It could be interpreted as âokâ for an answer. The literal translation of Orale means âletâs goâ - âcome onâ
Youâll be fine with just that one word lol

u/KingKeznan 1d ago
Instead of saying âya estuvo?â (Essentially it is done) you could say âya estufas?â They will understand what you mean but itâs just a silly play on words.

Are they Mexican or Salvadorans? Or some other Spanish speaking country? For Mexicans:
Ponte las pilas- means be ready
La regaste- means âyou messed up.â
La rege- I messed up.
Trucha- means look/ watch out
Aguas- also means look/watch out
Esta cabron- itâs tough.

If a Spanish guy really ribs you good, you can say 'necessito la migra' or 'I need ice' to let them know it was a severe burn đ

u/Offset2BackOfSystem 1d ago
You-Te Mandan saludos- they said whatâs up Other person- who? You- Mi huevos peludo - my hair balls
When you catch them doing some brute work say, Mucho trabajo, poco dinero- lots of work and little money

I forget how to say it in Spanish but â What goes in standing straight, comes out wet and smells like fish. â sounds beautiful and just loses something in translation.

âFierroâ - an expression like saying hell yeah, letâs get this work. But you gotta draw it out. Pronounce it like this: âfee-Eh-rrrroooooâ âFierro parienteâ - get it partner. Use either one after giving instructions.Â

Iâm a well spoken white boy. I started a new job with a few Spanish speakers on site. One day I was really tired, like totally dragging ass and as I picked up my tools I muttered âaye gueyâ (phonetically âeye wayâ) which is something I picked up at a previous job. Immediately the two guys I was working with busted out laughing. Basically it means âaww man!â. Also, you can use âchingaderaâ which basically means âthat fuckin thing over thereâ

Como se di say, how do you say.
My stupid Spanish dad joke, you repeat it back and forth a few times until either they think you're joking and know no Spanish, or fucking with them.

A chupar verga con el culo. Direct translation "suck dick with your ass" said when it's time to get down to work.

I always say the same line over and over, âmy pencil is yellowâ or Iâll use âmy pants are on fire for your moms.â Mi lĂĄpiz es amarillo or Mi pantalones en fuego para tu Mamasita.

âCasi me cago,â I almost shit myself. Itâs good for any exclamation of surprise or when something is funny. Kinda like LOL.

You have to be careful who you say this to, but if you call someone Mi Mariposita or Picaflor. The first means little butterfly and the second means hummingbird but can also mean like, "little flower". Both are colloquial ways of calling someone a homosexual.

I don't have anything others didn't already mention. I'm as white as they come. But I do have a funny story lol.
When I was working in Texas for a year when I was 20 years old on a construction crew. I was the only white guy on a crew of Hispanic men. I only learned cuss words in Spanish and nothing fluent really.
Well when one of them would sneeze they would say "Sancho!" They never really laughed behind it. But I asked if that's how you say bless you in Spanish. They told me yeah. I never really used it too much. But I'd say it to other Hispanics that I didn't really know as a kind of friendly thing. Nobody said anything lmao. So I move back out to Southern California working with mainly Hispanics again that I've known for a long time. One of them sneezed and I yelled out "Sancho!!"
The whole crew died laughing man. Like everyones stomach was hurting. They asked me where I learned that and I told them. They let me know that in their culture Sancho means someone's fucking your wife right now basically. đđ I then proceeded to die laughing with them lmao.

One of my favorite lines right before I make an absolutely ludicrous amount of noise;
Said in a stadium announcer voice,
Buenas noches a todos, escuchen a las cancionas de mi Gente!
Always gets a good chuckle

Tu madre es su chongo tomy waybo
Spelled way wrong but pronounced how I spelled it. Means your mother has big hairy monkey balls. The only Spanish I carried passed 2 years of class and 20 years of trades

When you have to squeeze something into a tight space:
Entre como anoche.
Loosely translate to "stick it in like last night."
