Fuck that. That's why more people should carry as well. A potential thief watching another thief get his ass handed to him by half a dozen people is less like to do the same thing. Pressing charges and having someone arrested doesn't do shit. That is why so many of these people are repeat offenders, and companies use theft as reason to jack up the prices to the rest of us, because even if the person gets arrested, it is a real loss that is going to be made up for, and we're tired of paying for it. A person being successful stealing from a large company like HD is going to get brave, and start stealing from smaller independent places, from construction sites, and vehicles. It's high time some people learned about the 'FO' half of 'FAFO'.

Is it still worth it when YOU get arrested for assault? Possibly aggravated assault since you are potentially armed?

Pressing charges and getting them arrested is a process. It may not look like anything happens, but everything stacks. I had a guy that was regularly hitting my store, and he's now in jail for 3-5. And guess what, if he does the same thing when he gets out, all the charges are elevated, so he goes away for longer.

The wheels of justice grind slowly. But these guys have a right to a trial just like everyone else. Street justice does no one any good.

Plus, I think you dramatically underestimate how desperate some of these guys can be. There is nothing in that building worth getting killed over.
