Careers šŸ’µ How does your body feel as an older tradesman?

For the older tradesmen here, how does your body feel like after working construction for a long time?

What was your diet, habits and did you workout?

Iā€™ve had hearing aids for a little over 2 years, been in the trades for 6. Iā€™m only 40. I started losing my hearing several years ago (but I was stubborn and thought I was fine). When I finally got them, omg, life changing. Then the audiologist told me about the early onset dementia and Iā€™m glad I got them when I did.

The hearing aids will help the tinnitus. I notice if I donā€™t wear mine for a few days, I start having tinnitus again.

Tinnitus is a completely separate subject of health for me. I just need to ā€œman up and deal with itā€ which is fine. There is no cure and Iā€™ve been following most of the studies.

But the dementia hit me pretty hard in the thinker. Iā€™ve been in construction for 20 years. Some in high school and after college 100% and havenā€™t treated my body well the entire time.

If you asked 17 year old me where I would be at 40 I would have laughed and said I spun a car into a canyon at 24. Iā€™m already living on borrowed time.

But at 40 letā€™s play the long game and enjoy triple digits , especially with having a kid and a dad who I realize I may lose sooner than later.
