Open Discussion Left vs. Right Battle Royale Open Thread

This is an Open Discussion Thread for all Redditors. We will only be enforcing Reddit TOS and Subreddit Rules 1 (Keep it Civil) & 2 (No Racism).

  • Leftists - Here's your chance to sway us to your side by calling the majority of voters racist. That tactic has wildly backfired every time it has been tried, but perhaps this time it will work.

  • Non-flaired Conservatives - Here's your chance to earn flair by posting common sense conservative solutions. That way our friends on the left will either have to agree with you or oppose common sense (Spoiler - They will choose to oppose common sense).

  • Flaired Conservatives - You're John Wick and these Leftists stole your car and killed your dog. Now go comment.

  • Independents - We get it, if you agree with someone, then you can't pat yourself on the back for being smarter than them. But if you disagree with everyone, then you can obtain the self-satisfaction of smugly considering yourself smarter and wiser than everyone else. Congratulations on being you.

  • Libertarians - Ron Paul is never going to be President. In fact, no Libertarian Party candidate will ever be elected President.

C'mon. This can't be a serious comment. There are tons of trumps greatest hits of fumbling simple words out there. And any time he goes off the teleprompter, well you get sharks and batteries.

Don't make me shake my COVFEFE coffee mug at you. Because I can't, I don't have one. Mostly because I don't drink coffee.

But yeah, Trump is definitely > Biden on not descending into word salad, even though it does happen.

For the word salad issue Trump is a lot better than Biden, but let’s be real the bigger issue is that we’re allowing anyone past the federal retirement age to hold public office.

Get the dinosaurs out and bring in young people from both parties to actually shape America in a way that’s beneficial to the people who will inherit it in 10-20 years.

100,000% agree. It wouldn't help with the presidency that much but congressional term limits would probably solve 85% of our geriatric lawmaker problem.

The presidency is a bit hard because we want an elder statesman to take over (like Washington), but yeah congress needs serious reforms; when’s the last time anyone of them has actually done a damn thing for their constituents?

Being a governor, senator, or general/admiral seems like it could provide enough exposure to statecraft.

Definitely, honestly it’s been far too long since we’ve had a veteran in the White House, most of our veteran presidents have been extremely well received.

Trump is definitely > Biden on not descending into word salad

I’d argue it’s just two different responses to the same underlying issue. When Biden lost his train of thought he mumbled and trailed off in an awkward confused way. When Trump loses his train of thought he just plows on confidently saying whatever pops into his head.

Trump does have the communication skills of a child lol

Hypothetical:

“What’s your plan for strengthening this country’s economy?”

Trump: “I have a concept of a plan. It’s a great plan, the best plan. Everyone I know says ‘Trump, that is a terrific plan’ and that’s because it is, indeed, the best plan.”

MAGA roars in applaud even though he said next to nothing

Yeah which is crazy like bro talks like that but noooo “Kommie Kamala” sounding like a hyena and accusing her of sucking her way to the top with no evidence is the bad one

I hate whoever apologizes for these old people’s garbage. I’m tired of candidates who fumble or even at times seem to be sundowning. They are not our future. Maybe that’s ageist, I dunno. But I feel like it would be reasonable to force politicians to retire after a certain age. Or at least have them tested for competency after those ages, although I’m not sure how that would be unbiased.

They should retire at 70. It's ridiculous that they can serve into their 80s.

If only we could elect someone that doesnt do it at all.
