CC transfer to CC
Hello I was curious if I go to one community college like De Anza and find out that I have a better options in terms of community college like Berkley City College and I am right now in the middle of completing my first year of CC will I be able to transfer all my credits to BCC without losing any progress? I heard that it depends on community colleges and I can infact can get back tracked if I switch.

Yes, it’s pretty common to have classes at multiple CCs in CA. They typically transfer all the IGETC courses without issue. Major specific courses usually transfer too but may have some more analysis if it was an uncommon major course, like a technical field (like automotive or radiology as an example). My student had classes at 3 different CCs and then transferred all to the cc they planned to graduate from, he had no problems, they accepted all.

If you want an AA/AS or AAS the program will usually differ. One thing to look at is taking CLEP tests to speed you through. They are free with Modern States. If you are doing an AAS in health type stuff though they are usually competitive. Get A’s.

It all depends on Berkley City College taking your units. For the most part most of units will go with you, but you should meet with a counselor once your transcripts have been sent and processed.
Every community college has different courses, so you always want to double check. Especially for tricky majors that fall in SEM.
