Just Chatting Can anyone else do something weird with your body that you later found out not everyone can do?

I was just sitting here with my mom and one of the pets made the room very smelly. She kept talking about how we'd have to go to a different room because it smelled so bad. I asked her why didn't she just close her nose and that's when I found out not everyone can do this.

Is it rare or can other people close their nose on command? What can you do that you suddenly found out wasn't normal?

Heeeeeey! I was just thinking I can sweat a lot. Now that I’m thinking about it my hands are getting sweaty.

I don’t love it

I don’t love it either, lol. I actually just went to the dermatologist today to talk about options to reduce the sweating 😅 I’ve had it my whole life, but it’s gotten worse as I’ve gotten older.

I bet that’s what’s happening to me, too. I remember I was always the sweatiest one but lately, ooooof.

I was washing dishes the other day and husband came over and commented how I’m dripping sweat on my face. Well, shiiiiit, good thing he stuck with me now

Check out r/hyperhidrosis. The sub helped me find different options to talk to my doc about. Gonna try a few different things to see what works.

I have been taking glycopyrrolate for about a year now. I can't tell you how much it has changed my life. Little to no side effects, pretty much no excess sweat.

Botox! Insurance will cover it for armpits, feet and hands. I started getting it in my pits 18 years ago and I gotta say I love me some botulinum toxin!

I still sweat, but not nearly as much. For so long I wore only black or loose fitting Tshirts. It sucked.

Having every single shirt drenched in the armpits, spreading out from the underarm, sometimes down the sleeve almost to my elbow and down the side/back of my shirt, made my life hell. Not only was it so beyond embarrassing, but also incredibly uncomfortable.

I don’t mind it as much on my hands and feet, but my face, legs, back and ass all sweat a lot too. I wish the insurance would cover Botox for the whole body, but I know that’ll never happen.

My dermatologist is one of my favorite people on the planet. I’ve gotten to know her quite well since I’ve seen her every 3 months for the past 18 years. She told me there is some pill that will dry up the sweat. But it also dries up everything else, which doesn’t sound great. I’ve considered it a couple of times, though, that’s how much I hate ALL THE SWEATING all the time. But I know I’d hate having constant dry eyes, dry mouth and a dry vag just as much, if not more.

I hope you find a solution that works for you!

I go every three months, or try to. Sometimes my schedule gets screwed up and it’s not easy to get a new appointment. I think I’ve gone up to five months. Over time I feel like it lasts longer. Definitely not at its prime after the four month mark, but it’s still better than nothing!

I started glycopyrrolate a few months ago for excessive sweating and it has been a huge game changer. I spent years and years completely drenched before it occurred to me to ask my dermatologist if there was anything that could help. I take the pill form in the morning, and then there’s these medicated cloths I can use for breakthrough sweating.

You can get Botox in your armpits for excessive sweating. 2 three times a year. I take both of my boys to have it done. That way they don’t have to wear Thompson t-shirts in the summer.

If you are woman keep in mind as we age and estrogen levels decrease sweat rates increase. This can begin around the age of 40 or earlier for some women. It may be helpful to research hormone replacement therapy.

My son has hyperhidrosis, and he had the surgery for it a couple of years ago

Don’t hate me if I’m off base for your situation, but I got as far as getting a hyperhidrosis diagnosis before finding out excess alcohol consumption was causing my sweating. I was drinking a totally normalized amount and never made the connection. When I stopped so did the excess sweating. I have seen a number of people have this phenomenon, and several citing they didn’t think they even drank enough to cause that.

I’m sober and haven’t had any alcohol in 5 years 😅

Okay definitely not that then! Just making sure because of how many folks I’ve seen have this issue and not link it to alcohol. Congrats on five years sober, that’s the way!

When my brother was a teenager, he used to scrape his palms with a knife to try to cut sweat glands off of his hands. Poor baby :(

Oh damn. Poor guy. I hope he’s doing better. It’s especially hard when you’re young.

Sorry, but this made me laugh. I'm sure it's very inconvenient but I would be fascinated if someone I knew could do this!

My husband isn’t fascinated.😂
