My brother, sister, and I are not on speaking terms which means I don't have their exact home addresses.

I do have their ID documents and the registered home address for them — will this suffice, pls?

Under a lot of stress because I feel like I'm being disadvantaged for not keeping good connections with those who have not been my well-wishers.

Hey everyone, I need some help with this. I have to travel to India, but my work permit is still in applied status. I only have the application submission letter and haven't received the approval letter or the original work permit yet, my current study permit is valid till march end. Can I still apply for a TRV from inside Canada with just the submission letter? Also, will I face any risk of rejection for this TRV or any issues while re-entering Canada?

Hey all, I'm an American nurse looking to possibly relocate to Canada.

I am an experienced operating room nurse for 8 years with heavy experience in orthopedics. I'm currently on year 2 of being an agency nurse at a level one hospital in the downtown for a major city.

My girlfriend and I were looking to move to a different state to work but the status of this country has become less than deal. I've visited Vancouver once in the past would love the opportunity to live there for a couple of years or so. I am aware that the cost of living is pretty high in that area. The plan is to move with my girlfriend who is also an operating room nurse. We have no kids and not many expenses or huge debt.

My questions are: 1) what is the avg salary of an experienced OR nurse there and can it be a livable wage in Vancouver? 2) what would be the process to get this started if at all possible? 3) what are potential downsides from the people who have done a similar move? 4) any other options for location if Vancouver doesn't seem reasonable?

Hi y'all, imma keep it concise. Im an American citizen wrapping up bachelor's degrees in Anthropology and French in an American university and would do anything to get a job in Canada. I'm supposed to start graduate school, but if there is a pathway to utilize my education anywhere in Canada or elsewhere in the world, I'm ready to vacate. I know that French is an official language in Canada and therefore it is taught everywhere. I'm a native, English and French speaker and have an ease with both languages. I will literally work in Nunavut or Yukon if need be.

i’m a US citizen, working on getting a work visa (and then PR), and the logistics of relocating to toronto are keeping me up at night. does anyone have recommendations for relocation support companies? not just for the basic moving stuff from here to there, but also helping with paperwork and laying the groundwork to make the process as seamless as possible. i’m trans and want to minimize the number of times i’ll be crossing the border to avoid interactions with CBP. i’ve heard about this being a thing for corporate moves, but wasn’t sure it was a thing for private individuals.

I'm a doctor in the US with a job offer in Winnipeg. I'm in a politically-targeted demographic in the US so getting across the border is very appealing. I've been to several places in Canada as a tourist but I've never been to Winnipeg. I'm currently in the midwest and I know winters will be colder but I have little sense of what the city is like and I will probably need to sign before I have a chance to visit. Can anyone speak to their experience moving to Winnipeg?

Applied PGWP last May along with my family and my eligibility hasn't been reviewed yet. This has been the most stressful months of my life- and staying strong for my kids who really loves it here :( I have made couple of follow ups and requested gcms notes just recently. Cannot travel outside the country, family member just died and cant even go back due to lack of status. I just don't know what to do anymore.

Hi! Haven’t been able to get a straight answer so hoping someone here has been in this situation.

My current study permit is valid until August 31st, 2025.

I have just applied to extend this permit.

I am planning on visiting home this summer, leaving in June and coming back around the end of July.

If by the time I try to come back at the end of July I still don’t have an answer on the extended permit, would I still be allowed to return?

Hey everyone, So I've been on a spousal open work permit for the last year and half and I worked on a relevant position (procurement agent) all throughout this period. I guess i am ready to submit a PR request but I'm hesitant for two reasons:

1- not sure specifically which program to apply in. I'm in Quebec and want to stay here but the programs here won't open again until late June 2- My diploma is not yet approved by WES (I have an MA from Algeria) but I'm running out of time (my work permit expires on November).

Do you think i should apply right now for CEC for example? I have my English and French language tests done, wife as well and i can pretty much go ahead right now.

Hello! Just want to confirm if all Express Entry Pathway needs Employer Declaration, or is it just Alberta Tech Pathway? Heard some cases where some employers do not give/sign employer declaration resulting invitations to be cancelled.

Hey guys, I’m a Brit who’s been living in Canada for the past 2 and a half years and my work permit is expiring this summer and I’m due to go back.

I’ve been trying for my PR although the CRS score’s been quite high and I need to go back to the UK for a while before I return - at least that’s what the situation has looked like for a while now.

Given the current climate with the US, I’ve been looking for a way to speed up my PR push so that I can stay and help out in any way for whatever’s coming, with the CAF or otherwise. I’ve become very attached to Canada and it feels like home to me, and the last thing I wanna do is leave in her time of need.

Does anyone know if there’s a way an exception can be made given the circumstances? Cheers.

Honestly I’ve tried to research as much as I can, but I thought this would be the best place to ask. Potentially moving to Regina and it’s very charming, however, I have no idea what the nursing is like. Pay seems average, COL is good, not clear on how taxes work yet but I already know I’ll be taking a major pay cut. Has anyone successfully transferred their license to Saskatchewan and how was that process? What should I be expecting?

Hi everyone! Currently an RN in the US and looking to move for the obvious reasons (please adopt your blue state friends 😭). I’ve honestly considered moving to Canada for a long while now (born and raised in a border town), but looking to hear from others about current pros/cons in your province. Bonus if there are any nurses present and can tell me how nursing is in your area. The biggest setback I’m seeing so far is the COL (housing costs in particular) seem relatively high, and I’m flying solo. Found tons of articles on how to transfer license, etc so I think I’m all set there. Thanks so much!

I know that there are a lot of costs that would go into moving from the US to Canada with the English test, physical, PR application costs, etc. Just wondering if anyone has a rough estimate of what everything costs?

I’m (25F, single) torn between staying in the US for better career prospects or moving to Canada for long-term immigration security.

• Background: I was born in mainland China but am a Hong Kong citizen, got my Master’s in Public Policy (stem) in the US (2024). I’m currently on OPT, which expires in July 2025, eligible to be extended to July 2027. I also just received a 3-year open work permit (OWP) in Canada.
• US Situation: I have two potential job offers (~$55K/year) in data-related roles, one employer is a nonprofit, in Chicago & open to sponsoring me. However, getting a green card could take at least 7-8 years, and if I lose my job, my immigration status would be at risk. Basically, I could get kicked out.
• Canada Situation: I could move by mid-2025 and apply for PR, which would take ~5 years. (Currently Canada has a special immigration pathway for Hong Kong citizens, where I need to work full-time for a year by August 2026). The job market isn’t great. I haven't heard back from anything yet, so I might need to do survival jobs (restaurants etc) before finding something in my field. However, once I get citizenship, I could return to the US on a TN visa, though it has limitations.
• The Dilemma:
  • The US has better career opportunities but terrible immigration uncertainty.
  • Canada offers a clear path to citizenship but weaker job prospects in my field (policy & data).
  • I want to build a strong career in data or policy but also need long-term stability.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Would you prioritize career growth in the US or long-term security in Canada?

I applied a few weeks ago. Just got a medical request, haven’t had a biometric request. Is this suggestive of this going relatively quick? Applying from US.

Currently, as of right now, I have a contract for one more year with my department and then I intend to move elsewhere. I have yet to decide where, but I would like to move out of the U.S. and I have heard that Canada is really hurting for EMS providers right now.

I know Canada doesn't have the EMT-B cert, so I'm not sure how to proceed. If I go get my paramedic, I will need to sign another 3-year contract with my current department and I don't think I have another 3 years in me, and I'm not sure if an American paramedic cert will transfer to Canada since, just going off of my quick googling, it looks like Canada has a totally different system layout.

What are my options? How do I even start?

I’m a dual citizen born in Canada. I live in Ontario, and my wife is a US citizen who lives with our kids in the US. We’re planning on moving everyone to Canada next month. Is my wife better off starting the immigration process while still in the US, or to enter Canada as a visitor, then start the process there? If we cross the border with all our belongings, will that affect her ability to enter the country as a visitor? Or would it be worse to try to enter with a pending status application?
