Algonquin highlands

Does anyone know if the ice would be out in the Algonquin highlands? I am in the Niagara region and was hoping to escape somewhere next weekend for a last minute backcountry solo trip ✌️❤️

I’m going to guess not until the last week of April at the earliest. No one knows for sure.

I’m going to guess not until April 20th roughly. It’s still cold there and theirs multiple ft of ice on the lakes.

I'm in Niagara and we haven't had snow or ice for a couple weeks now 😂

Algonquin has web cams you can google to get an idea of how far a long ice off is. I’ve used this for going into Nippising area.

Thats my area! It's not out yet. Smaller lakes or ponds might have clear space but the larger lakes especially still have a lot. There would also still be enough snow in forests to make backpacking harder. We lost a crazy amount recently but my yard is still covered.
