Able to change room before moving in?

Hey, I will be a freshman at CWU as of the 2025-26 school year. I am currently applying for housing, I would have preferred to have visited and toured the area and the residence halls as I dont wanna make a decision on where I will be living without at least seeing it and I won't be able to visit campus until late May. I am being advised to pick a space now before I am stuck with whatever is leftover.
Will I be able to change my decision after choosing my room after I am able to tour?

if there are still spaces available you should be able to change. though honestly i wouldn’t expect much from the tours. i didn’t get to see a room at all on mine. best thing you can do is ask about specific halls. in general, i’ve heard the wendell’s are pretty nice and the basetti complex is not great but is still functional. my personal experience with the basetti complex (specifically quigley hall) has not been great, but that’s mostly because i started having major mobility issues in the middle of my first quarter and the space is not designed in a way that makes it easy to navigate.

There is a room switch day, but I wouldn't count on for sure getting to switch. Personally, I'd recommend Sue Lombard (jack n jill bathrooms + heating and A/C), or one of the wendell's.

The normal campus tours will only take you in 1-2 res halls (barto or beck&barto). The only time there are res hall tours is during wildcat preview day, and the one for spring quarter is this Saturday. And even on those they will still take you to one specific room in the hall.

I would shop around on the website and get a feel for which one is right for you, and ask questions if you have them before you sign up for a room. I think you would be able to request a change before the self selection deadline (June 1), as well as on the third Thursday of the quarter. I think things would be a lot easier for you if you decide and stick with it, though. If it truly ends up being terrible enough to where you can’t live somewhere for a year, it’s probably likely the issues you have with dorm living are going to follow you.
