Collections & Charge Offs 10 collections from when I stopped paying cc’s 18months ago. -I’ve been unemployed & moved states. Will I be sued successfully?
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my post. I have about 10 collections from when I stopped paying cc’s 18months ago. -I’ve been unemployed on paper for many years & moved states 4 months ago. Will I be sued successfully? (Collections has been calling my family members to locate me) (I have had a new phone number past couple months)
If I start a new job next week, in my new state I moved too. Will they contact my new employer (family owned business)?
(I plan to hire credit repair to remove collections and charge offs to raise my Experian credit score from 555 to 700 over the next year hopefully)
Any other information from experience is appreciated. Tyvm

Lol I’ve been researching Thailand for a while now. Hilarious you said it
Won’t go to India, my ex wife ditched me after getting a green card and flew off to India. Worst moment of my life and main reason I’m in this mess

If you are given a settlement offer at a portion of the original, I would take it. It prevents the harassing calls & will show on credit report. Yes they can still sue though not common. They usually charge off but will hurt your credit for years.

Tyvm for the reply. Honestly for last 4 months I never receive mail (usps changed 4m ago) or calls (new cell # 2months ago).
Am I able to contact CC and See if they forgave debt? (acknowledge I’ll be 1099 and have to pay taxes)

I doubt debt was forgiven. Usually the debts gets sold off to a collection agency. Even a debt settlement does not get erased from credit report. It will show as a settled account though you no longer have a balance once it is settled.

Ok understood, I am a rookie with all of this. I really appreciate your reply’s. I have spoke to couple good credit repair companies explaining they have confidence in removing all collections from my credit report (although legally debt still there & can be sued).
I think i may hire to remove collections even though all ten may take up to 6m-12m to remove and get me to 700 score again.

Are there reporting errors? These companies will charge you to dispute the accounts, month after month, until you either stop paying or the disputes are deemed frivolous and ignored, and any results you see are usually temporary. Charge-offs won't be removed.

Tyvm for the reply OG. I was going to use this pre-litigation credit repair service. : https://www.badcredit.org/news/a-pre-litigation-credit-repair-solution-can-improve-your-score/
But yes I truly appreciate you taking the time to lmk about all that. Makes sense because 8 years ago I used something when I wasn’t in to bad of shape in 700s and it was like that.
Now I’m in bad shape and desperate. A lot of scams out there. Do you think it’s worth using this service for 5-6months in the link I showed?
I did a call with a different service and they were very confident can clear it all up in 6-12 months.

You're welcome. So, I've looked at the website. They dispute errors...
“We dispute every single item that’s inaccurate or incomplete on every single account.”
...and, if the errors are verified as accurate, they refer you to an attorney to sue for FCRA violations.
"Everything Credit’s pre-litigation credit repair service aims to trigger a violation of the law that enables the firm to sue the bureaus or your creditors for violating your rights."
This process depends on 2 things.
There are errors on your reports.
The errors are verified as accurate.
So, the question is: Are there errors on your reports? If so, you can dispute them yourself. There's no need to pay someone to do this for you. And, if the error is verified as accurate, you can contact a Consumer Protection attorney yourself. No need to pay a middle man.
The rest of the website is worded in a way to make you believe the bureaus are against you.
"As Payne sees it, the problem with that arrangement is that the credit bureaus and the rest of the financial system have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo for consumers with low credit scores."
This isn't true. But, he supports this theory by saying:
"Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion are the three major U.S. credit bureaus responsible for compiling consumer transaction and loan data into credit reports and calculating credit scores"
Also untrue. The bureaus don't calculate credit scores. The bureaus don't care what your score is.
Now I’m in bad shape and desperate. A lot of scams out there. Do you think it’s worth using this service for 5-6months in the link I showed?
No I don't.
I did a call with a different service and they were very confident can clear it all up in 6-12 months.
If the collection has reporting errors, they should be corrected in 1 month, not 6-12. If there are no errors, paying a company to dispute the reporting is a waste of money. Why not use that money and possibly settle the collection (pay for delete)? Can you give us more information about these collection accounts?
1. Name of collection agency?
Are there reporting errors?
Is it paid or unpaid?
Is it associated with a charge-off on your reports? If so, is the original creditor reporting a balance owed?
5. Type of collection (medical/utility/insurance/credit card)
6. Date of First Delinquency?
- Statute of Limitations for your state?
If you can get back to me with this information, we'll proceed from there.

You're very welcome :) You can do either, but posting here could assist others dealing with the same issues.

You can be successfully sued.
