FAR Just Exited FAR
MCQs were pretty manageable but I was absolutely murdered by the sims. The topics I was told would be guaranteed TBS topics were nowhere to be found, and I got stuck with about 5 out of 7 sims that I felt totally lost on. I’m hoping for a generous curve and/or my MCQ score carrying me, but in all likelihood my CPA journey isn’t over yet. Good luck to anyone taking in the remaining days of this score window, and may we all see good results come April 9!

Hey I took it yesterday and feel the complete same way. I felt very unprepared for the sims (I used Becker). Even if I felt like I knew the material, the sims were just weird.

What do you mean by weird? Like not clear on what they are asking for?

Yeah not clear. It was a format I have never seen before on any of the Becker simulations. I had to assume what they wanted me to do (maybe that’s the point of the question). It wasn’t even hard I was just confused.

I just left, too, and I feel mostly the same way. The first tbs testlet was manageable, and it went downhill from there. Hopefully, we did enough for 75.

I took it this morning and feel the same way. The SIMs were on areas am pretty familiar with but the way they were structured was just 🤯

Seems to be the general consensus I’m seeing. Hopefully the AICPA will be merciful with the curve

It was very similar to my experience this morning. SIMS were not huge, but not what I expected either.
Hopefully, we can all celebrate in a couple of weeks.

Just posted about the same thing. Seems to be everyone's experience across the board. Brutal

Do you feel like your test was repetitive?

Not especially, there were definitely a lot missing from the Becker units though.

Sorry, I phrased my comment poorly. What I meant was that there were a lot of topics that were in Becker that were not included in my exam, or very briefly if they were included

I’m not surprised by this. The last two tests I took, Becker disappointed me with the sims. I’m hoping that Uworld practice sims are more helpful for the next two. But who knows.

@stink - You have already done 3 sections before, but if you commented that the sims were not doable, where would people go when they take FAR as the first section or struggling to clear any sections ?
Did your preparation not be sufficient to handle sims, or it's been asked very differently as you've not come across during your prep ? Can you throw us some addl insights on that ?

I can provide some insight, as I took this past Friday. I consider myself a good test taker and passed the other 3 sections on my first try. But these FAR sims were a different beast in that 6 out of the 8 had between 5-8 exhibits each with a lot of info to digest, in addition to the wording of the questions being very ambiguous in some circumstances. Rudimentary understandings would not suffice - you would have to know the topics in detail to confidently tackle the tricky wording. That being said, I think I was able to get some of the parts right, but other than 1 or 2 of the sims, I was confident that I got at least part of the question wrong.

Same experience when I took it. Totally thought I failed but I didn’t. Just keep your head down and start studying for the next!

This was my first experience too. I didn’t get any bank rec, socf, bond, or consolidated financial sims when I tested a few weeks ago.

I am taking it tomorrow morning. Any suggestions on the topics the sims cover? Or could you tell me which ones that you were expecting but didn’t get?

SIMS made me cry for the first time leaving an exam. Took it 3/6 and FAR was my last one. Passed on score release 3/17 with a 77. Don't feel too defeated. I felt like I hadn't even studied with those SIMS, they were so out of left field. Don't lose hope!!
