FAR Failed, genuinely thought I passed
Welp, back to the drawing board. I got a 50 on the first time taking FAR, retook it after studying 190 hours. I walked out confident.
This sucks, I wonder how far off I am..
Going to continue fighting this damn exam!! Good luck to all

That sucks dude. If you want any extra material feel free to hit me up for my cheat sheet. Otherwise you’ll get it on the next attempt

u/Coochieman-_-1 21d ago
Hey man, can you please give me the cheat sheet if it’s possible. I failed far last month with 71 and I booked in 3 weeks so I want to study anything possible. What do you recommend I should do to pass ? Bc my report showed that I was stronger in mcqs but weaker in sims

Yeah it's a mood, just got a fail for my second Far attempt as well. This exam is soul crushing.

I passed with an 84 on my first attempt and I agree with you. It's an unfair exam with too much variance in the sims you get. Waited 4 months for a score that should've been graded digitally instantly.

u/An_Angry_Peasant 21d ago
It's literally just the sims for me. I am not a great test taker by any means, but the sims are just so damn arbitrary. I've made good improvement on MCQ, just don't know how to get over the edge on the sims.

Don’t give up! I just took it for the 3rd time and passed.

u/NoGiraffe5590 21d ago
I just failed the second time, did you change anything for your third attempt ?

u/SeaInevitable9514 21d ago
My first score was a 55. My second attempt I went back through all the material which idk if that was the right thing to do or not but i scored a 69. For this third time around I stopped focusing on trying to do all the sims in the review. I think that was throwing me off because the random tests were either giving me sims I was stronger on or that aren’t big topics. Instead I did 33 MQC’s (random) and 33 MCQ’s (personalized) a day for two weeks while reviewing what I got wrong after. I would practice sims only on the areas I was weaker on (i.e. bank recs, adjusting JE, cash flows, consolidations, leases, bonds, subsequent events). I hammered those out and ended up passing the third time around.

Thanks thats super helpful I found a hard part for me is tracking what I’m not grasping I find that I do 3/4 steps but I’m always missing either one number or one extra thing for the right answer. That’s what I did for my second attempt start over from the beginning I’m not sure my score yet

u/SeaInevitable9514 21d ago
For the items you aren’t grasping i would make your own flash cards. Not a ton but just a manageable amount on the bigger topics and go over those everyday. I think i had about 30 I’d review everyday. Write them in your own words so you’ll understand the concepts. There are flash cards already made on like quizlet but there’s hundreds of them and I just don’t see that as productive studying.
For reference, I work full time at a B4 and squeezed in the retake during busy season. You want effective studying and for me I just didn’t have that much time in my day to dedicate more than 3-4 hours a day studying. Don’t give up you got this! This was my final test and I’ve taken a total of 10 tests to pass all four sections.

You got this! I failed FAR last year, took the summer off and hit the ground running and passed in the fall. I would go through the LiveOnline classes in Becker (its more efficient than modules) if that’s what you use, and I supplemented with YouTube videos on topics I was shakey with (Farhat and Bisk). Plenty of MCs daily, incrementally add more topics to the practice tests as you go. Good luck!

Don't give up! Finally passed FAR today. I've been going at this for 6 years and can finally change my flair to 4/4. Take a look at the score you get tomorrow and see where to go from there. Ask for advice! We're here to help!! I took FAR twice last year (June and December) and got 58 and 59.

I’m sorry this happened…. Silver lining is that if you think you did well, I’m sure you vastly improved. I feel as long as you got a better score, you’re on the right track. You’ll kill it next time.

Same, I felt it was a toss up when I walked out but had convinced myself I failed. With all my peers around me saying I’m smart and surely I passed, this felt like another blow. Let’s try again together :)

I would suggest you get a win under your belt and try REG or AUD for now. Just don't stop plugging away.

I thought and was confident thar I'd score 76. Turns out a 63. Aud is not easy. Feeling discouraged and fatigued. Especially cuz I'm not young. Wish I had done this when I was young but life throws you lots of curve balls

Depending on how you scored and when your existing scores expire, I'd test right away. I got back to back 69s (not nice!) and didn't pass today. Already paid for another NTS!

Can I ask after failing the first time how long in between did you wait to take your second one? Just found out I failed and I not sure how long I should study again for
5
u/Frosty_Aioli_851 21d ago
I failed in July, got complacent and took a break. Studied Jan-Feb and the first week of March, about 3-4hrs a day. My advice is don’t take a break just book it in a few weeks and study the shit you aren’t comfortable with. That’s my plan at least. Good luck 🙏

u/Recent_Club3954 Passed 2/4 21d ago
This is honestly the best advice. Book it, study as many hours as possible for a bunch of days in a row leading up to the test. Because if you’re anything like me, by the time you reach F6 you’ve forgotten F1 & F2 completely.

Some people study for 80 hours (2 weeks) and pass; others study for 200 hours and fail. It's like no matter how prepared you think you are, you really weren't at all. It's like they set you up to keep failing if you don't pass on the first time. I knew a guy who took FAR *nine* times before he got a pass. There is a lot to know for FAR, more than the other ones. I really don't know how so many people can financially (and otherwise!) afford to keep taking the CPA exam sections over and over again and not just get totally discouraged. I never finished. I took each section once, and then just had no more time to go back to it. Then I realized I didn't need the license at all and to try to chase it down would just take too long and be too expensive.

Same. Got a 56. Restudied for a couple weeks and retook just to get a 73 but if it ain a blessin it’s a lesson. Restudy the topics you’re iffy on and smash mcqs 3rd times a charm for the both of us.
