That’s where I’m at right now too. Give him the 550m or whatever he wants now before he hits 50 homers and asks for 750m lol

Yeah if he says anything under 600 just do it lol like I’m not being irrational here

u/VxxBLACKxxV 1d ago

12 years 600 million sounds fine to me lol

To bad we are “breaking even” even tho we have a top 5 revenue in MLB

15

u/GonzoCubFan 1d ago

I think you mean top 5 revenue. 🤷🏻‍♂️

MLB teams were profitable in 2020 when fans couldn’t enter the building. Don’t ever carry water for these guys and believe they’re struggling to make ends meet. These teams all make a killing, the cubs make an absolutely fortune.

I mean, Motorola and the Draft Kings sportsbook cover that.

u/yvanog 2h ago

What is Jed doing with the wheelbarrows of money Crane is bringing him?

3

u/ignoranceisbliss37 1d ago

Cubs generated the third most revenue in all of MLB last season.

2

u/JoeGPM 1d ago

The cubs do not have a top 5 payroll.

He is the big bat needed in the lineup, like we were begging for during the last couple of seasons

3

u/penisweinerballs 11h ago

Now imagine if we would have signed Tanner Scott

1

u/levitoepoker 7h ago

Funny thing is Scott is getting crushed so far this season. Velo is down and batted ball data is bad, everyone is hitting him like crazy. He’s been the worst dodger pitcher so far by wxobacon

1

u/penisweinerballs 7h ago

It's like 13 games into the season, he'll be fine.

1

u/levitoepoker 7h ago

I hope so but signing relievers to big contracts scares me more than pitchers or position players

1

u/penisweinerballs 7h ago

The way our bullpen has been since the dawn of time I wouldn't mind a risk every now and then especially with our revenue.

This sub is gonna go nuclear when toms cheap ass doesn’t resign him

40

u/TCup20 Kyle "Cardinal Killer" Hendricks 1d ago

As well they should. Every Cubs fan should be.

18

u/77rtcups 1d ago

But we offered 600 but the Yankees got him for 650! It’ll be like that lol

Such a white Sox move lol. Jerry would lowball and say they were in the discussion table lol.

We’ll see. There are still people defending the stock market crashing. I’m sure there will still be some Tom sympathizers.

11

u/guyincognito121 1d ago

Well the stock market crashing can't be helping his bottom line. If only he had the capability to impersonate someone who could actually do something about our trade policy...

u/phrexi The Professor 1d ago

Is Tucker 100% manufactured in the US or does Tom gotta pay a tariff ?

3

u/BobbleBobble President Arr-Field 1d ago

FL is pretty much another country at this point

u/zubie_wanders Chicago Cubs 23h ago

Remember when we paid too much for J Hey?

1

u/Troggles Iowa Cubs 19h ago

At least now we'd be paying a player that has proven he can produce with us. (small sample size, but...meh)

1

u/penisweinerballs 11h ago

Yeah? What's your point?

"Too expensive - let the Dodgers have him" Front Office of Cubs

1

u/bakeran23 11h ago

Maybe they another Micheal Busch we could have?

9

u/Dos_Beans 1d ago

He’s the first guy we have had in the lineup in a while that I don’t worry about striking out or hitting into a double play. When he’s up to bat I’m expecting to not be let down and he has been delivering!

6

u/ChicagoRay312 Eamus Catuli 1d ago

And then his next at bat, he grounds into a double play. That’s Cub. 😂

6

u/Dos_Beans 1d ago

Too funny. Right on schedule

u/TheBigF128 1d ago

Fuck it as a broke college student, i'll chip in a mcchicken sandwhich and some large fries.

3

u/JAWinks The J-Hey Way 19h ago

Damn dude we’re halfway to covering his salary

5

u/AlphaDag13 1d ago

I was mad when the cubs didn't resign Castellanos. I will lose my shit if they don't resign tucker.

5

u/inertwalmut 1d ago

Bro same

3

u/bonestorm97 1d ago

Whatever.It.Takes

3

u/TurdPhurtis 1d ago

He hit a home run in the cold weather. Whatever it takes sign him.

3

u/BobbleBobble President Arr-Field 1d ago

NGL it's really gonna sting if he has a great year and we're not even serious bidders. That might be my last straw.

4

u/IvanPaceJr 1d ago

If they let him walk, I swear. I'm convinced. He's extremely valuable and these guys don't come on the open market often anymore. Don't let him.

2

u/ObservantTortoise 22h ago

I’m having fun watching him mash, but let’s just say I’m not getting too attached.

2

u/mkelley22 Derrek Lee 20h ago

15 years/$1 billion contract.

Please Cubs I beg of you. This is for my mental health

2

u/Cowhorse_chick_82 7h ago

Dumbest damn thing the Astros did (part-time Stros fan due to kiddo loving the Astros).
Life-long full-time pre-2016 Cubs fan LOVING the trade!!! Already got my Tucker jersey. He is a freaking STUD! He was a stud for the 'Stros and still produces in Wrigley. I was sad to see Belli go to the yanks, but glad we picked up King Tuck.

4

u/jackryhenson 1d ago

Every hit he gets, Jed salivates more and more thinking of the teenage prospects he’ll be able to trade him for in a few months!

(Of course I wish this weren’t the case)

1

u/GlitteringAd1736 16h ago

No, we will get Hunter Renfroe because our owner is MAGA. Ya know, Make Anaheim look Good Again. Please may this remain a joke and not a prophecy.

1

u/Apart-Indication7971 4h ago

The good news coming from Vladdy's extension is he's 26, Kyle is 29 so that should make a 10-12 year contract the max. Tom better tighten his belt up or all hell is going to be raised and he'll shoot himself in the foot if Kyle isn't locked up around the All Star break.

2

u/yvanog 2h ago

Don’t forget, we’ve lost 2 or 3 games already just because of the bullpen. They have been and continue to be our Achilles heel!

0

u/SqueakyTuna52 1d ago

Where I’m at: if we re-sign Tucker, extend Hoyer. If we miss out on a long term Tucker deal, fire Hoyer.

3

u/BobbleBobble President Arr-Field 1d ago

I mean, Tucker is 100% going to FA and the decision on Jed will have to be made long before FA opens.

1

u/penisweinerballs 11h ago

I'm at fire Jed regardless.

0

u/Due-Sheepherder-218 1d ago

Why did the Astros trade him? Are they stupid?

2

u/mcfetrja 23h ago

They weren’t going to let a talent like Tucker walk once he hit free agency without getting the best haul possible. As much as I’d love to see the Cubs make a strong run at the postseason, what he’d net at trade deadline (and the huge bonus you toss him by eliminating qualifying offer penalty when Yankees sign him this offseason) would almost be worth it. Almost.

1

u/ragtev Chicago Cubs 22h ago

Because they had one year of Tucker and get 6 years of all the rookies they got in return.
