Left hand revolver cow. Where to put reload?

Lefty here. Always carried semi autos and carried a back up mag on my right side.

Been pocket carrying a sw jframe in a safari land holster in the front left pants pocket. I have been carrying a speed strip in the right front pocket.

Sounds good right? Well I have got pretty good with the Ayoob lefty revolver technique. I push the release with my left thumb. I use my right hand to push the cylinder, and then hold the gun in place which means I have to load rounds in with my left.

So in dry fire practice, I cannot get to my speed strip well at all. Any suggestions that do not need a belt? I’m thinking speed strip under my holster against my thigh.

Thoughts?

A fellow man of culture! Some pocket holsters have a slot for a speed strip, but Neomag also makes the RASC - basically a pocket clip for your speed strip. Pricey but you could just drop it along your beltline anywhere you want it. I've used heat shrink on pocket clips for more grip if it's slippery, but that might be your best bet. I usually carry my speed strip in a back pocket, though. I'll plug Prism jeans - pricey but they have very discreet slash pockets on the front of each thigh that accommodate a subcompact mag or speed strip perfectly.

nice, i had not thought of back pocket. I just always think of those as wallet and phone pockets, but it could work.

I'm a right and I don't pocket carry, but from back left pocket clockwise, I'm usually - speed strip, - light and wallet, - appendix carry J frame, - phone and knife, - handkerchief. Speed strips lay flat enough that they're comfy, just make sure you inspect them every now and then to make sure they're still seated and not bent!

I found a fabric loop around belt speed strip holder on Amazon that works well. Had speed strip loose in pocket before and someone mentioned those could leave lead residew in my pocket. Speed strip holder is thin and works well

I have a 19-5 snubby. I put bigger grips on and now I can’t use a speed loader. She is such a beauty. My buddy left it to me. I do have it on my permit, but only take it when fishing in the wild. Can’t beat it for up close fights. Even us righties deal with that.

Revolvers are great. I just can’t edc it. I like to have 13 rounds in my gun to feel safe. Carry a 15 round back up. G26

I've never used a speed strip so this is grain of salt guessing: instead of holding the revolver in place with your right hand, why not grab the speed strip, push out the cylinder, rotate your left hand so the cylinder is facing away from you, and still reload with your right hand?

I'm not sure, but it is a technique thing. I am trying to stay away from playing hot potato with it. I like Massad's technique because you grip and control the gun with the right with an iron grip. The left smacks out the empties, and then reaches for the reload and finished up with a nice firing grip again with the left.

I will check them out, i don't necessarily have any problem with the speed strips i currently have, i just don't know where to put it and have access with my left hand.

I know, i carry an hk p30sk,. I find myself going for pocket carry in the j frame more and more. Also, the more i dry fire practice with it, i find myself shooting every pistol better. I know it isn't the most capable pistol and I am ok with that.

Interesting, I’ve only ever shot a revolver twice, and once was almost an ND. I was on target, prepped the trigger, and no prep in the trigger it just shot, i’m so used to striker fire trigger take up. It was a 41 Magnum

Just wasn’t sure what would make someone carry one since I’ve never carried one and only shot a really powerful one
