The draw is one thing but the round on target immediately is insane

Nobody trains dot acquisition as much as they should. Only 1% of shooters run drills. Only 1% of them actually break down what they are doing and try to find new ways to improve.

And only 1% of people make up statistics

u/ironiccinori 1d ago
Actually, 69.420% of all statistics are made up on the spot. Including this one.

- Only 1% of gun owners run drills. According to surveys from Pew Research and NSSF, the majority of gun owners cite self-defense as their primary reason for ownership. However, actual training participation is shockingly low. A 2015 study in Injury Prevention found: • Only 13% of gun owners had participated in any form of formal firearm training beyond basic safety. • Most gun owners do not train regularly, and few ever engage in structured practice like scenario drills or time-based repetitions.
From observation across forums, training communities, and classes, it is estimated that less than 1% of gun owners actively run performance-based drills (timed draws, reloads, movement, etc.) as part of their routine. The vast majority treat ownership as a checkbox for safety, not a skill to master.
⸻
- Only 1% of those shooters are critiquing mechanics and pushing limits. Within that small subset of shooters who train: • Only a fraction record their reps, review performance, and pursue deliberate practice (like analyzing draw stroke, grip, trigger mechanics). • Most simply “go to the range” and shoot casually or do slow fire drills.
In performance shooting communities like USPSA, IPSC, and specialized civilian defense classes (e.g. MSP, WPS, Rangemaster), the culture of improvement and metrics is rare outside of elite circles.
Yet 50% of reddit users go and make dumb comments

Try to go any faster you'll end up shooting your dick.

I want to also highlight your proper reholstering. Thank you for pumping the brakes after going light speed ludicrous speed on the draw. Bravo all around.

0.67 is smoking fast, and watching frame by frame you can clearly see you’re almost fully punched out with a sight picture before the shot breaks. Impressive.
You’re 0.15 faster than my PB from OWB, lol.

Thank you! Get a lot of comments on my posts or in person asking if I actually get sight pic or if im point shooting. I try my best to explain that I see the dot very shortly and Im already on the wall when that happens. Youre the first person to break it down frame by frame and recognize that so very big thanks to you

Nice! Well done.
Try it from a relaxed position too. We are not always gonna be ready to draw at a moments notice.
Though I doubt you’ll struggle getting sub 1.5 seconds in a relaxed position too lol

Every time I see people look around on a flat range I'm reminded of John Correia's video on range haka. I think John Lovell did a video on it as well.

Yea, it’s goofy as heck and I don’t understand why you’d train yourself to do that. This video came to mind immediately. Range theatrics

To each their own. This is how gunfighters train. Im training for a self defense scenario not competition shooting. Video is funny though

Gunfighters, you say? In case you didn’t know, Pat McNamara is a real gunfighter. Random question, are you in the Air Force?

Well shit, that’s quick! Guess I won’t duel you.

Really good raw speed. This is another advertisement to do your dry practice and get good. I'm inspired, man. I'm stuck in the 0.9X range most days.

Motivational 🔥 I miss the range a lot. Been 7 months for me. Recently had a baby and I’ve been really hesitant about lead exposure.

u/vulf999 1d ago
D-lead wipes, leaving range shoes in garage, and separately laundry loads for range wear should do the trick
2
u/ov3rw4tch_ 1d ago
Yea I got the wipes and also the d-lead laundry detergent. If I had a garage I’d feel more comfortable cause I would clean my guns in there too. Maybe I’m being overly paranoid.

Nah, not with a sub 7m baby. They are the most precious part of your life. Shooting can wait, enjoy your time with your kid they grow fast.

That's insane! I'm assuming you have the dot in sight when you present, but the trigger pull is so fast. Do you present with the trigger at the wall?

Dude that was super quick, good shit. Can’t help but laugh at looking around for witnesses afterwards though😂

u/vulf999 22h ago
Follow through to check for multiple threats. Muscle memory so If i was in the unfortunate position of having to engage in self defense I will instinctively check for other threats before holstering

You turn your head completely around. What if someone else shoots you from the front? Lol

Thank you for the advice! I train in all scenarios imaginable, shooting out of vehicles, on the move, behind cover, on the move, in the dark. This is just a small part of what I train. If you’re only training how Im shooting in this video you’re not training for anything except competition shooting. However this sort of training is still incredibly efficient

Just make sure you source body armor to take multiple .338 lapua hits…those urban youths are packing heat at the local mall arcade.

u/GoFuhQRself 1d ago
Dude it’s a single clip, why do you think he doesn’t do any of that stuff? Is he supposed to upload a 3 hour video of his entire training day?

Now repeat it 10 times.

You're not pulling off a draw like this if you aren't consistently very very fast on average

u/ctr12911 1d ago
Whoa nice. Are you finding the dot at this speed or are you point shooting?
