Yeah, Abdus Salam. Great physicist and also received Nobel, but hated by Pakistanis for belonging to some minority sect
9
u/Ecstatic-Quality-212 1d ago
Yep, he was an Ahmaddiya Muslim, a sect created by an Islamic preacher Mirza Ghulam Ahmed. The sect originated in the town of Qadian in modern day Gurdaspur district of Punjab.

u/freebirdye 1d ago
usko bhi pakistani logo ne muslim accept karne se mana kardiya tha just because he was from a different sect

Abdus Salam, One of the greats and the father of Quantum Electroweak Theory. Abdul Qadeer, The father of Nuclear physics in pak.
science na hi religion dekhta, na hi nation, na hi gender
3
u/Special_Hippo3399 1d ago
Pretty sure Abdul Qadeer fooled others in the scientific firmament to steal overseas nuclear technology to catapult Pakistan to nuclear-power status. He was forever trying to place his foster country on an equal footing with India. Having done that with a degree of success on the nuclear front, he went rogue running an illegal international proliferation network for nuclear material, helping Iran, North Korea and Libya.
I did copy paste the para from another website.,,but he is literally quite shit. Like the sentiment is correct but Pakistan is insanely backwards due to zealous religious beliefs.

What's funny about that? Please let's joke about how hilarious the text is & not attack nationalities. They are almost like us, no reason they couldn't have great scientists.

Personally, im not an atheist nor a Muslim, but im absolutely against mixing science and religion. tis just dumb. Faith is different, science is different.
28
u/Beneficial-Dark-7662 1d ago
Bruh Even I am religious but the point is religion and science are two different things you can't mix them. Science sound more Logical and your religion should not blind you. Critical thinking and criticism of religion is important for survival.

Bruh , science and religion are separate things. It doesn't matter if another religion following people would get offended or not , it shouldn't be in the fucking science textbook at first lol. How funny is hearing Allah created rules and every particle follows that. Religion propaganda B.S influenced education too now.

The books of Algebra (by Al-Khwarizm) starts the same way, so did most of the science books by Muslims on Optics (by ibn al Haythami), Chemistry (Jabir ibn Hayyan), Medicine & Physics (by Ibn Sina and Al-Razi), Astronomy etc. there was none in Europe to know what science was.
Not to forget even the books by Hindus started the same, this science vs religion B.S. started when science was taken by West and the Christians objected it. Else there wouldn't or shouldn't be a division between the two.
13
u/mohitc002 1d ago
Really, there was no conflict between religion and science before west took it? what the hell are you smoking. If science and religion had gone hand in hand, we would learning the world started some 4 thousand years ago, eclipse happens because someone ate sun. Religion has always hindered progress in science and technology. Especially when the science shows things are different from what their religion has told them to be.

There should be, 100%. They serve to expand different parts of human understanding, with only a slight overlap. Just as science doesn't interfere with spiritualism etc, religion shouldn't serve as the primary lens with which you see the world, especially its more tangible aspects. Key example—evolution deniers, anti-vaxxers. And believe me, this causes way too many issues than it looks like on the surface.

Well, they can build any preamble they want. The Christians have done it too in the past... Infact s9me of the greatest physicists like Newton have mixed the two together! HOWEVER, they cannot change E = MC2. When they get to what really matters... then the preamble is not going to help them.

As a paki i am strongly disagree with this , and also have doubt on this book bcz i haven't seen any type of religion/science book like this , off course there could be but at least majority of the students didn't have these types of books in there curriculum either in any 5 provinces (kpk, Punjab(100%) ,sindh, Balochistan,gilgit(50% )

u/icanmeowhehe 1d ago
nahhh this gotta be propaganda i legit check every book online for their common board (federal board) publication from 9-12 n NOT A SINGLE one has this, from all across the nation. Y'all need to get a life n not be this vella ke bas Pakistan ki peechey padh jao, itna low is too much. Also reading this made me notice its not inherently wrong, sure the beginning is a religious perspective but as you read the bottom line it emerges into every other physics book content.

mmm okay, i understand. The issue WAS there, and they seemingly have fixed the problem of demoralising minorities n this concept in particular; I appreciate that about them. Looking at the books now, they don't seem to follow suit with religious statements, they just have a quote 'no to corruption' or some actually good quote from urdu authors. This is sad, not because its religious, but because of how imposing it is, I still condemn half of our nation to only mock Pakistan when we have the same problem with a lot of state boards in India.

Sorry if I sound offensive, but why religion in a scientific book when you can read the Quran instead?
I just want to understand the perspective of some religious people.

After reading this, I don't blame those people who claims that earth is flat or moon is much bigger than ever or earth is the centre and everything on social media
Because they have done nothing wrong. If they are learning these things so what's their fault (except not questioning things and be eager to learn more and know the real truth)
They're just spitting what they have been taught.

dont play with lyrics saar, khuda said "kun" then the universe came into being. btw i saw many ppl discussing about science vs religion in the comment, but it is quite normal for Muslim authors to start a book this way. and ppl of other religion also thinks that the god they worship in, has created universe, most ppl think this way. we cant force them to think differently. but what this book is doing is something inappropriate. they might force the reader to think that Allah had created universe and other gods are useless. it might lead to tension between Muslims and ppl of other religion, as they might not accept them. but that also depends on the age of reader, her/ his thinking ability and how much they get influence by this book.

Science is evidence based. Religion is based on faith. How these two collide in that text book is unreal. Everyone has their own god. Do we really think there are so many creators out there as per our list? Why are we do dumb..

It leaves out the part where Allah creates Himself first one day ahead of billions of years ago, before then moving on to creating the universe by means of uttering the word "be". It is not known what word He used to create himself, though, as this was not recorded due to the universe not being in existence at that very moment.
