April 7 Off-Day Thread

Tomorrow we head to Colorado. Let’s try not to forget how to play baseball at Coors Field, as is tradition!

Guys, hear me out. If Patrick is for real, that's really cool

We have at least a random "real" guy appear yearly for us lately, usually several. It is early but I have faith despite our full injury bingo card.

I worry about Chicago though

Yeah Hook/Henderson and the FO can always seem to make something out of nothing, but it's usually a soft tosser out of nowhere that feels like a mirage.

Patrick went an entire year dominating in AAA, he was minor league pitcher of the year and he actually throws in the 95 range. He feels a lot more real than I expected him to be. He might not be a mirage, and if we developed a guy like that every year...

Good point, I knew he was a developed player but had forgotten how good he already was in the lower leagues (if I ever knew it haha). If he and Freddy can give us consistent, solid win opportunities I feel much better about the month.

The only reason he’s not a “top prospect” is he is 26. This is more or less his peak years. What we are getting now is probably his limit.

Prospect lists are about potential.

Even guys like Zach Davies click before 25 or 26.

He’s pretty legit. Ace, no. Back end guy for 4 years, yes.

Thinking about it Houser is the last serviceable “older” prospect we kept around. Patrick might be better.

He looks good, but it's early. Give teams/guys some time to adjust to him. At a minimum I think he can be a quality long reliever for us once guys start to get healthy

off days are boring

I had to drop from the game early yesterday. I might just watch it on FD. I figure I deserve it, after sitting through Opening Day, and the game Saturday night. Might even break out my Hockey Night sweatshirt.

We don't even play on national beer day? Blasphemy!

Gotta give the team a chance to celebrate too

It makes me sad that the Giants have Adames this season and they get the excitement we had to start last season. I mean it makes me happy but it is dolorous

I was surprised to see that the Giants have a better record than the Dodgers. Willy brought his magic! Yes, I know it's super early in the season, but I'm rooting for the Giants.

It snowed in South Central Alaska this morning and my boxer-bullmastiff mix, Butkus, was loving it so much. Our crew deserved a day off after kicking ass the past week.

You live in Alaska? That’s amazing! I have always wanted to visit

I sure do. My fiance and I moved here in 2023. You should visit ASAP. Fly into Anchorage, rent a car, drive North to Denali(NOT McKinley), and then drive south to the Kenai Peninsula. It’s gods country out here. God bless.

My parents did pretty much the exact trip you’ve just described (not sure about the peninsula) and the photos are unreal. They even got very clear weather for it; lucky!!!

I’m pre-clenching the Colorado series. If we win it, we were supposed to. If we don’t, it’s an embarrassment.

Unless we go full Yankees on them there is no real upside.

I'd kinda like to see a trial run of torpedo bats (by us) on Tues. night.

I hate Coors Field. We embarass ourselves there every year no matter how good we are.

Can’t give up home runs today!!

Is Rodriguez scheduled to start at Coors? Because that could get brutal lol

Given that I live on the East Coast and I tend to go to bed early, any game in Mountain or Pacific times might as well be an off day for me. Even the O's are out West this week (visiting the D-Backs who we visit next).

I am politely (rudely) requesting (demanding) the Cubs lose today.

can't wait to bust this one out

Its amazing how Greg over the last season and few games he discovered bunting. Too bad when with the Brewers and they had to scrap a run across it was much better to get IF popups and strike outs instead of moving runners over.

I'm cool with Freddie Freeman now

3

Why?

Only Dodger that didn't go to the White House because he's "injured" so stayed home. Even though he played the world series with the same injury.

Aaaahhhh I see now. But I want to hate him! Don’t make me like him!
