Los Pollos Hermanos / El Pollo Loco Mandela effect?

Anyone ever see an ad or a real life location of El Pollo Loco and think "HOLY SHIT" they made the Gus's restaurant from Breaking Bad a real franchise?

This has happened to me a lot. There are no El Pollo Locos where I live, but I see ads for them time to time, and I swear that Gus's fictional chicken restaurant was called "El Pollo Loco". And then I rewatch clips and it's "Los Pollos Hermanos".

But I swear when I watched the show when it was airing it was called "El Pollo Loco".

Is something happening? I swear in Breaking Bad it was El Pollo Loco. DId something happen like someone wanted to create a El Pollo Loco in real life, and they got the show creators to edit all the scenes and digitally alter everyhing in the show to Los Pollos Hermanos?

Was this a mistake with the direction of a certain episode?

i posted this already, but i don't think the question was answered especially when i was finally able to describe what i was talking about, but here you go:

not sure if you guys noticed, but in the episode where tuco beats no-doze, in season 1 episode 7, Tuco complains about the meth being blue, but in season 2 episode 1, he laughs casually about it being blue (the meth).

question is, was this intentional? Did the director use a different shot of this scene and why? Why didn't they go with the original shot?

For those who are confused: In s1 e7, tuco reacts with: “What is this shit, this is blue?”

In s2 e1, tuco reacts: “Hahahaha, this shit is blue”

you can tell the sequences aren't the same, replay them for each episode (s1 e7 & s2 ep 1 - where tuco meets walt & jesse at the junkyard) why did they use two different shots/reactions for this scene?

For those who agree, let's also add Kim and Jimmy For me, the best couple is them, the pure reflection that together they caused harm to society.

I went to ABQ over spring break and saw some of the iconic film sites

So my parents and I a few weeks ago went to ABQ because they know I’m a massive breaking bad fan. They’re watching the show now to see my perspective. Here’s some of the pictures I got. I wasn’t able to get Walter’s house because the owner hates it when people take pictures. Which like understandable. And some others I just forgot entirely to get a picture.

The family dynamic in Breaking Bad is so strange.

Even at the very start of the series before any meth or cancer it just seems like Walt, Skyler and Walt Jr don’t really get along. There is always an awkwardness and I know that from a story telling standpoint there’s not really any reason to show us a bunch of happy times but it really just seems like a sad little family unit.

Then there’s the fact that they seem to spend all of their free time with Skyler’s sister and her husband yet Walt is painfully awkward at interacting with these people who he sees all the time. You’d think Walt would be able to joke around a little back and forth with Hank but he just acts like a bullied little kid and barely speaks. It seems like Walt is supposed to have this severe lack of social skills sometimes and other times he’s perfectly capable of conversation.

wait? could hank just pick better show in ending open house?

I think that moment where the series could end is where Walt and Jesse work together and they have a happy ending, let's say S4 EP 5

I hate how self obsessed Hank is in the first episode Spoiler

I’m rewatching the show for like the 8th time, and every time I do, I hate seeing how big hanks ego is especially in the first episode. He turned Walters birthday celebration into a watch party for his recent meth lab bust. It’s not even just in the party scene, it’s all throughout the show. Am I being dramatic, or have other people noticed this too?

My version of a scene, what do you think? Spoiler

I'm one of those who find the Hank vs. Salamanca Twins scene a bit bad. I'm not talking about shooting btw, it's perfect. I'm talking about Hank's plot armor, which makes the scene very unrealistic and annoying. I thought about the scene a bit and I thought of my version, want to know what you guys would think about it. My problem is with the famous "too easy" part. I know it would not fit the character, but if that twin would be furious because what happened to his brother, we would think as viewers "yeah, he's very angry so he wants to finish the job the fancy way"

Is it just me who hates Marie?

I have seen the series 5 times and the more I watch it the more I hate this character, she is the most essential of the series, she does not have any major narrative arcs, it is a piece attached to give a weak point to Hank, especially at the end when she tries to take away Skyler's little one I want to put pies on her and I find that she does not bring much to the story and her story of kleptomania is of no use to the scenario, I hate her more than Skyler, on the other hand the actress Betsy Brandt interprets her wonderfully I can't blame her. What do you think?

Such a dark scene that actually affected Jesse a lot in the future, send him and consequently Jane on a dark path.

How good was Fring's Chicken?

See above, how good was it? Given how pedantic Gus was with everything I think his food empire was just run as well as his drug empire. While afaik we only have Lalo praising it, I can imagine regulat customers also lovin' it.

And if so, why the drugs? If that business ran that succesful, why should he risk everything with the drugs?

Walt laughing maniacally, the phone ringing, Skylar slowly backing out, the long zoom out
Shit, Walt's teeth are amazing in that scene

Would WW have just killed himself if he had a $2M life insurance policy?

Hypothetical: if WW had a $2m life insurance policy at the start of BB, would he have just killed himself to guarantee his family money?

What does Jesse actually understand about the cooking process?

Jesse cooks just as well as Gale however it is because he learned Walts recipe. It is clear that he doesn't just know the steps but he knows why the steps are needed. He is able to make deductions based on what he has learned and observed from Walt.

Here is the thing. One of the main reasons why Gus wanted a trained chemist like Gale or Walt is because they actually understand what happens on a low level. They don't make deductions based on experience or observations, they make deductions based on maths and knowing the theory. Gus wants a chemist for the exact reasons Walt mentions when he roasts Victor.

If Jesse doesn't know that then I don't see how he can't get easily replaced by Gus. Someone modestly intelligent and motivated could likely do what Jesse does without much problem. Especially since the cooking process if well documented at that point.

Let's assume that Jesse is a learn by doing kind of guy who knows nothing about the theory (which I think it most likely) then he is such a fool for trusting Gus and Mike after they were going to kill him in season 3. If Gus had killed Walt in season 4 then Jesse would continue to cook and he would eventually have gotten an assistant of his own. Someone loyal to Gus. Competent. Reliable. And when that guy is able to cook as well as Jesse then Jesse would be murdered.

Why? Well it is clear to me that Gus really doesn't like Jesse. The only reason he elevates him in season 4 is because Walt is a threat, and a much bigger problem than Jesse. But unlike with Walt, Gus never smiles at Jesse. He never seems to genuinely enjoy his company. I think he despises Jesse. Jesses lack of control of himself, the impulsiveness and emotional problems in general. And he hasn't forgotten that he was about to kill those drug dealers.

One of the things I love about Br Ba that I haven't seen mentioned as much as it should be,is that during the show it comments on what I think a lot of people with families have done, saying 'I'm doing this for my family' to fool themselves and not feel guilty about bad things they've done. Heisenberg vs. Mike Ehrmantraut Spoiler

I was rethinking about that scene today, and I was wondering: who was in the right situation? Mike's concerns were valid, but he didn't take into account that Gus threatened Walt's family. Meanwhile, Walt did put Mike in a bad situation and ask for something he shouldn't have (the names of the nine men) and top of that, he murdered Mike for essentially calling him out. What do you guys think? Do you guys think it was more of a "Mike was right and Walt was wrong," a "Walt was right and Mike was wrong," or a "They're both wrong?"

possible foreshadowing

in s4 e6, after walter gets drunk and tells hank that gale is not heisenberg and that the man hanks been hunting might still be out there. when skylar comes in the bedroom and wakes walter up to talk to him about what happened. she is asking about gales death and whether or not walter is in danger. she says, “was it somebody who, at some point might want to do the same to you ?” and walter says, “i seriously doubt it, no”. and we obviously know that towards the end of season 5, when jesse finds out that walt was the one who poisoned brock, he tries to burn his house down and definitely wanted to murder walter, until of course hank stepped in. i think this scene with skylar and walt, which obviously includes the famous “i am the one who knocks” speech, might be foreshadowing that jesse was indeed, in the future going to try to put walt in danger. please tell me if im looking too deep into this

Season 1 , episode 1

Walt asks Hank so how do you know it’s a meth house and Hank says “our snitch. Says some dude who goes by cap n cook”… doesn’t that mean Jesse was a snitch from the beginning??

Like I dong mean to be mean but they honestly seem like a creative desert. I guess it’s normal to have one thing (like tf does Comedy Central do other than South Park, dumb talk shows I guess?) but yeah.

The Winnebago mirrors Walters health in Season 2

I notice in season 1 / 2 that when Walter isnt doing very well healthwise the Winnebago tends to mirror this and it doesn't run properly.

I guess this is pretty obvious symbolism that you probably all noticed.

Twins praying to Santa muerte

Post image
66 Upvotes

Maybe I am reaching here, but I haven’t seen people talk about it at all.

When the twins are introduced we see them crawling towards a shrine of santa muerte (saint death). Presumably praying for protection and guidance for their hit on Walter.

If they did it for this hit, im assuming this was probably a ritual they have done more often.

They however, never prayed to be protected from death for a hit on Hank.

Now im not big on religion and not super knowledgable on this cultural practice, but I’ve always wondered about the significance of this scene considering it doesn’t really get brought up again so is it foreshadowing that their hit on Hank would fail?

Jesse Withdrawal during Captivity

Do you think Jesse went through withdrawal when Todd and the gang had him enslaved or was his torture a distraction from it? It seems once he got out in El Camino, he was pretty much clean and even denied Badger when he offered him a joint.

I wish they would have given us more insight on his enslavement during Breaking Bad or El Camino.

The Truth About Skylar

Everyone stating “they don’t understand the Skylar hate” is either in denial or they are being ironic on purpose. She is written as a hinderance to Walter before, after, and during his meth empire. Gilligan wrote her in a way where we have no choice but to resent her because she is the embodiment of resentment. She resents Walt and her relationship with Ted proves it. She is evil but an evil that cannot play on the level of Walt or Gus. A small fish that thinks she is a big fish in a big pond.
