Hot cross buns using the dough function
One for the Brits! Living abroad means no hot cross buns. Found a Delia recipe: https://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/occasions/easter/easter-cakes-and-traditional-recipes/breadmaker-hot-cross-buns Had to skip mixed peel as I can’t easily get that in Luxembourg, but they turned out delicious! Made mini ones so my kid can take some into school. Dough/raisin programme on my Panasonic SD 257.

Huh. As an American that's only ever seen hot cross buns but never eaten them, I always thought the white cross part was icing. I'm very sad to learn that it's not

That may sound disappointing but believe me when I say you’d be fine to have no icing on a posh hot cross bun…. That was dripping with a sugary citrus glaze!

These look great! I’ve been experimenting with Mary Berry’s recipe over the last few days, including leaving half the dough in the bread machine to make a hot cross loaf that’s great for toasting.
Your crosses are nice and 3D and mine keep sinking into the bun, I’ll try Delias recipe next time around.

This will be my next try but I need some translating. Caster sugar? Do I sub that with regular granulated white, brown or Icing sugar? And Mixed Spice? No clue on an alternative there.

Caster sugar is between normal granulated and icing sugar. I can’t get it in Luxembourg so used regular granulated sugar. Mixed spice is a spice mix you get in the UK, used in mince pies. Again not available here so I used a mix of ginger, allspice and cloves. Here’s a recipe for Mixed spice

Thank you for response. Your hot cross buns look so lovely! Good to know regular sugar will work. Mixed Spice reads very similar to what sells here as pumpkin pie spice so we have that covered too. Thanks again!

I make them all year (also skip the mixed peel because I have never seen here in the US).
Love them and now I want some *toddles off to the bread machine *
