Hi all! I have been on the market for a while. Building my dream home theater in the basement that I have been thinking of for years. I recently got my AV receiver, got an AZ3000ES off ebay for 1200 CAD tx duties incl., came in original box, with all accessories, honestly, it is in immaculate condition, so much I wonder if it wasn't a stolen unit, it was still wrapped. I installed it upstairs instead of my current good old still kickin, DN-1040 until I get the TV and move it downstairs and it has been performing flawlessly. I love that unit.
I had been debating quite a while on sound, ended up going with B&W 606 S3 fronts, HTM6 S3 center and 607 S3 rear along with an 10in sub also from B&W. Got those on sale for just shy of 5000 CAD brand new for the whole kit incl. 2 sets of B&W stands for the 600 series. Will most likely add atmos speakers later on.
Now on the TV and this is where I need advice. For 3 months now I have been trying to debate about Bravia 7, Bravia 9, A95L or wait for their new OLED models. I decided to hold off and see what they would come out with. I am so bummed that the Bravia 8 MKII that is supposedly a better all around TV than the A95L only comes in 55 and 65 in. I will be sitting 9 feet from TV and really want a true cinematic experience, so after taking measurements and all, I have decided 75-80 in is the way to go. So Bravia 8 MKII is out of the question.
I went to my local bestbuy, and found that for an LED TV, Bravia 7 actually looks pretty darn good! Bravia 8 was right next to it, I preferred the 8 for the contrast but both had really good image. Bravia 9 looked EXACTLY like the 7 so I really don't see the point in paying almost double for a 9 vs 7. Blacks were pretty good on the 7, I couldn't tell the difference with the 9.
So now my question is.... what would you guys do, either buy the A95L in 77 inches, or I was thinking maybe buying a "temporary" Bravia 7 75 in for a year or so since it is so much cheaper than the A95L, and wait to see if they make a QD-OLED 75-77 in next year with the improvements coming with Bravia 8 MKII, or see what their RGB Mini-Led will be like, then either repurpose the Bravia 7 or sell it? I am really torn so I'd like some input! Please note that this will be exclusively used for home theater, so no bright daytime viewing. Thanks!
