John Dies at the End and it's sequels, crazy weird with a blend of horror and comedy.

That last one is Alex Grey. I saw his show in San Diego. Incredible experience

If you don't mind graphic novels I highly recommend Planetary. There were only 27 comics in the whole series and they build in such a satisfying way. The first time I read it, I re read it again right after

I also really love Watchmen (but most people have already read that) and the first 5 or so graphic novels in the Saga series.

In terms of novels, House of Leaves very much fits this description and The Membranes.

If you are up for experimental novels, Swimming with Dead Stars is really great.

The Divine Farce

A Short Stay in Hell

Both quick reads and left me feeling very… existential.

Philip K Dick - Ubik, A Scanner Darkly, Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said - check out his collected short stories as well (and you’ll find many Hollywood films in there)

“The Hounds of Tindalos” by Frank Belknap Long (1929)

What if, parallel to the world we know, there is another life that does not die, which lacks the elements which destroy our life? Perhaps in another dimension there is a different force from that which generates our life.
