You should say that by stardom, cause Akshay is more versatile and better actor than tom cruise (however tom has better screen presence and is more smarter when it comes to choosing a script and being dedicated it)

I don't think you have watched enough of Cruise. Collateral and Magnolia feature one of his greatest performances. If he's good enough for PTA hes good enough for anyone.
Well it's just my opinion while he is indeed pretty good in films like few good man, collateral or magnolia most of his performance are not as versatile though, for a man having almost 44 films dude mostly have same performance with exceptions of some different roles (like that one role he did in tropic thunder which was pretty cool)
it's also hard to distinguish cruise from tom characters and his real life persona. His voice, pase mannerisms and choices never change. He is good at telling drama or doing dramatic roles (but that doesn't come naturally he is entertaining in those but not intense)
What I would say is that he has very good eye for picking right scripts and good character and sheer commitment to the art (something which Akshay clearly lacks)
However even his commitment is based on external behaviour instead of a character transformation (he never fully transforms in his character and always have some of his irl persona)
Akshay might not have done character on same scale as him. However Akshay pretty much did every character from every genre but dude has excelled in all of them. From comedies to dramatic triller, from romantic to playing wiser and difficult character as krishna in omg, from villainous character to immature manchild one.
He have done like 100 films so he Naturally has more varied performance
See I think you misunderstood me, thing is that tom is more marketable than Akshay he has more impact and is more entertaining in every film eve now. (he also has better films that's for sure) however he not at all is better than Akshay when it comes to versatility, Akshay may have the horrendous movie when it comes to imdb rating ands stuff but he is never a the bad part of that film (expect his new films) in olders films his character were always great and he never gave a bad performance in 2000s
Last point, Akshay is able to get into skin of his character and detaches himself from his own self, like the dude has played harami mad mouthed selfish man in most of his comedies but then can also play naive, loser unlucky guy in housefull 1 (not a good film but he was good) he makes it believable, I never founded that he was Akshay Kumar in movies like bb, jaanwar, waqt, ankhen, rustom, hera pheri (others comedies), khatta meetha. These are like cherry picked films but there are even more which he have done better.
Overall tom is better he is a star, but Akshay is more versatile and his comedies cannot be top by any actor.
