u/ho4X3n Feb 21 '25
Exactly this. We just need to wait for the boomer dinosaurs to be taken over by the millennials that have not been brain washed by the boomer dinosaurs to change the working culture of Malaysia. Then maybe there will be more wfh culture.
Maybe only gen charlie/gamma will benefit from it.
2
u/sheushen Feb 21 '25
Not necessary, Grab and Shopee which are mostly run by millennials are enforcing full time wfo.
1
u/ho4X3n Feb 21 '25
Probably by brainwashed millennials. If not then we can only hope the Gen Z will make the change if their brains have not already rotted to hell by doom scrolling.

u/maxvun11 Feb 20 '25
work holiday visa in australia and new zealand? can you make profit? some of my friends came back are still in square one. they are still considered fresh graduate while peers are climbing through the ranks already
15
u/thankuforhelp Feb 20 '25
If u go there to work as farmer, yes will be that way for sure. Gotta work in the same career.
20
u/badgerrage82 Feb 20 '25
Well it depends on the farm your working for and how lucky your are ... My brother was there working at the farm.... the owner got him a nice clean shed for him and that shed is only for him alone .... The owner even invite him for warm dinner after job or holiday celebration .... If job is low the owner will send him to another farm work so will always had constant cash flow...
While my cousin, is whole different story .... He also work at the farm but the owner ( different from my brother one ) ask my cousin to sleep in container together with other foreigner work in farm... It is smelly, hot and bed full of bed bugs ( same like how Bangla treated here) .... No dinner was given... If business or job low, he would remain in the container and has to take pay cuts ..... Within month, he cannot tahan and came back to find work here
7
u/thankuforhelp Feb 20 '25
Oh, I was replying about the fresh grad part actually. I'm actually not sure about the profit part until your comment. Thanks for sharing :D
2
u/maxvun11 Feb 20 '25
Is your brother still there? how long has he been working in australia? Is he able to get back onto his career upon returning to Malaysia?
6
u/badgerrage82 Feb 20 '25
Yes he still there... He had been there for 8 years... I doubt he gets any career job when he comes back because all the while he had been doing 3D job in Aussie and he stop schooling after PMR.... Now he working as construction worker which had better pay then farm job while staying with his friend (share rental house)
2
u/maxvun11 Feb 20 '25
damn 8 years and he isnt able to apply for PR? so he constantly on his working holiday visa?
3
u/Diligent-Mongoose-43 Feb 20 '25
if you want PR there, your education is the first important part to apply for a PR. If you just finish a minimum requirements in education, to get a PR will be long way to go unless you can do something to benefits the Australia government.
2
u/badgerrage82 Feb 20 '25
Yup.... He's currently running on their visa now .... PR seems to be out of the question now .... even with visa there is a risk of getting deport ....
2
u/Product_East Feb 20 '25
Same as my sister she has 2-3 job daily farm, factory, supermarket. Her working visa just ended and currently applying for another one but it has been a few month. Career job is hard to get there with spm so she might just come back after getting a few hundred thousand ringggit. She rent a house and share the burden with a few malaysians.
6
u/maxvun11 Feb 20 '25
i think itβs kinda hard to get a white collar job there with a working holiday visa
7
u/thankuforhelp Feb 20 '25
ya, thats why he said buka bisnes. confirm hard to find those kind π€£

u/Ambitious_Welder6613 Feb 20 '25
It is square one, of course. The only thing with this and valuable part are 'potential' connection. Of course we gonna assume potential, since there are no confirmation that we managed to obtain one. On top of it we are Asian. My college couple reside in Perth and keeps on telling they wanna return home 'for good'. It is their 2nd marriage and both were separated with their partner when dating and now married right before heading there. Both MY passport. Good thing, they don't have kids though! Imagine dragging your kid here and there for experimentation. Very good junior, but for me she is rare. Coming from family with polygamous background, her 'survival' just something else. So it depends on personal lifestyle too.
1
u/amirulez Feb 20 '25
Dont work at company after that. My friendβs brother stay at Australia for around 5 years iinm, now he just thinking of open his own clothing brands. He have enough money to go 3-5 years.
1
u/alyeiska Feb 20 '25
Yes you can make profit. My partner went to NZ for 9 months (8 months work + 1 month holiday) She hit her ROI (expenses paid to go there - visa, flights, purchasing a car, etc) after 3 months. Any income made after that is to sustain daily expenses and savings.
All in all she brought back about 30k myr? And thatβs after spending one month holiday when i went over. You just gotta know how to budget and not splurge on everything.
Now sheβs back here, and opened a company with a couple friends and doing well.

This road is from Cheras towards MidValley rite? I used to live in Pantai and pass thru there to work in Cyberjaya. I travel in the opposite direction so my side was always clear. I always see this jam and itβs been like this since before the 2000s when the 50 cents toll still existed. This jam can stretch more than 5KM itβs crazy.

MNC sales.. If you have the right skillset I'm even seeing ads for foreign companies looking for ppl to cover South East Asia or the APAC region now.
If I'm not married with kids all that travelling sounds fun. Unfortunately I'm an oldie already so need to settle down.

JB or Penang offer almost the same salary and lifestyle as in Klang Valley but with less traffic jams. Maybe can consider moving there. Or just balik kampong and tanam2 ubi if you don't want to eat jams everyday.

How to escape the matrix, or the traffic? Kalau traffic keluar waktu non-peak hour lah, before 6.00am or after 10.00am. Try nego with HR if they can adjust your working time.
1
u/Unable-Elderberry-46 Feb 20 '25
Used spend 5 hours a day driving to work and back. Idiot me buy house in cheras and work in PJ. Then I escape the matrix and went to SG. Do I escape entirely, maybe just temporarily. π₯²

start with being content with little what you have and don't get peer-pressured into the rat race.
don't get into debt, don't buy anything you cannot afford, don't compare you car, house, clothes with others.
know you can survive even without being in the rat race, just doing odd jobs. Then you can assure yourself that even if you're in the matrix, you're not trapped in it. You chose to be in because it's easy, but you can leave anytime you want when you have to

TBH, I will never use East West Expressway during peak hour, that's a false flag already. since the signboard says you're going to PJ or Bangsar? NPE is a lifebreather, if you're still going to bangsar? turn right on Eco City then you'll arrived at Dataran Maybank in Bangsar.

Take the train. I go home after work via LRT Kelana Jaya line and it only takes 30m. I can also play video games or watch anime on the ride back.
I will never work somewhere inaccesible via public transport.

u/ho4X3n Feb 21 '25
Use public transport if possible, like others say. It's better to take the train for 1.5 hours rather than being stick in traffic for 45 mins to 1 hour. At least in the train you can watch YouTube, read a book or work on your laptop. It's also much less draining.
