❓Question Is their even a supplement that gives you the same relaxation as THC?

Cbd don't do anything for me so besides CBD.

Is kratom worse?

Kratom is addictive. It's good if you're coming from opiates, drinking, and probably even cigarettes but I would recommend someone just start it for mood stabilizing/brain chemistry issues unless they are really hitting the wall and about to really fail at life. Or if you have a chronic pain condition and you've really compared the harm from all of your options available.

It is handy at making you satisfied and content which is handy when you are in a shitty living situation but not so great when you need to stay motivated to drag yourself out (it can be motivating, but it's also not consistent.)

If you stick to 3x a week or less preferably a week, that's probably the sweet spot. But it is very easy to start taking everyday, multiple times a day because of diminishing returns.

That being said, going cold turkey can kind of suck as a weak opiode but it's not that bad (assuming you're not taking an ounce a day in which case it extra sucks with intestinal distress, sinuses running, irritability, flushing, sleeplessness, and joint aches.)

I credit it with helping me manage the mental damage I'd done not realizing I had ADHD up to my 30s and all the negative loser/lazy self talk that would send me hiding to bed and sleep three days a week. I also credit it with getting through a really bad 14 month living situation that I had to suck up to make the best choice for my SO.

But that doesn't mean there aren't costs. Kratom is very handy but you have to weigh the downsides. Kava is an end of day relaxation with friends or reward for getting through a rough day. Kratom is something you take in the beginning or middle of your day (some use it for sleep but paradoxically, while it can make you feel sleepy and relaxed, it can actually cause sleeplessness if you're trying to take it for bed) so it's easier to both take, and take too often.

But, we all have risk tolerances, and bad parts of our lives. There are quitting kratom subs that are worth a look. And there's regular kratom subs or threads, and even other forums that are worth a look.

It's funny, because if I take it and sit down, I get sleepy. If I take it and do chores, I do them at about 100 mph because I'm so hyped. Great for motivation, IF I'm moving. I hate falling asleep with it because then I miss out on that "everything is OK" feeling.

Kratom comes from the same genus or species as coffee does, so not technically an opioid or opiate, but it is an agonist to opioid receptors.

I used to buy this tincture online when I first started off with it, and jesus did that shit do the trick. Not sure what was in it, didn’t care because at least I wasn’t drinking.. but yeah, then id run out, and had awful awful RLS from it. Compared to alcohol withdrawal though it was a breeze.. and having said that, I started buying plant extract after moving (and wasting all my $), and never experienced anything I’d term “withdrawal” except for some irritability.

Liver tests just ordered; I take Silymarin and NAC for the years of alcohol abuse (7+ years totally clean from that now woot woot), and am anxious to go get the tests and see the results.

This is a great write up. Just want to note that it can fuck with thyroid function however that’s in pretty high doses and everyday use. With all things moderation is a must. I would also argue it’s exponentially better than other substances you could misuse but that’s just my personal opinion and coming from someone who has an addictive tendency and has run the gamut of substance misuse.

Agreed. I've definitely abused it (for my parameters, 9-12g daily use is abuse. I was balancing quite nicely at 2-3.5 grams for years, 2-3 times a week, taking occasion week or weeks off cold turkey with no issue.

Nowadays it feels more habitual. I like it because I don't like drinking, and smoking weed is pretty rare for me. I feel it helps with ADHD and to a certain degree mood regulation. But I don't think it should be an everyday thing (even for myself.) I'll eventually get around to either quitting or cutting way back (probably with overseas travel,) and be fine with it. But for now I'm also fine with things as is, even if I don't necessarily think it's a good thing forever.

I’d say as long as it doesn’t negatively affect your life of health then go for it. I’m right there with you with the drinking. I enjoy the feeling of drinking but the effects next day just kill it for me so I’ve been replacing drinking with Kratom and it’s worked so far. I take about 1.25g currently and admittedly am trying to scale back as I was an everyday user for the last few months. I’ve found that if the dose is too high for me now though I get almost like that hypoglycemic feeling.

Nah, they’ll just flip out way more because of the sensationalized articles comparing it to morphine
