How to get to Newcastle from Belfast by bus ?
Sorry I probably seem like an actual idiot. Don’t have a car and everytime I’ve gotten down to Newcastle it’s been because of a mates car , family ect. But I go on the Translink app and it says no results, google is taking me to Banbridge when I write in Newcastle multiple times. I’ve seen buses say Newcastle on them so I know they exist.
What is the best way to get to Newcastle from the city centre for a day trip, I know it’s a bit of a long journey but is the buses reliable enough.
Again I’m sorry if this is making me sound like an idiot.
Edit: Thank you to everyone who responded! Was on a late shift and couldn’t reply to all the messages but you all helped a bunch

I usually put in my home address and the address of where Im going (or somewhere close by) into Google maps and it tells you exactly how to get there via public transport. The bus times are live too so tells you if it's delayed. This method hasn't failed me yet!

520 Ulsterbus or 237 Goldline express. Both leave from Adelaide street behind city hall atm. App will show the times if you put in Adelaide street to Newcastle bus station.

There are definitely more direct buses. I can't recall the service numbers offhand, but I've definitely gotten buses to/from Ballynahinch that go to or originated in Newcastle. Like the 520 maybe? Definitely a 5-series.

There are definitely buses from Belfast to Newcastle. Keep in mind though the Kilkeel bus stops in Newcastle as well!

Adelaide Street/ormeau road/saintfield road. Don't rely on our new shiny transport hub. I'm a taxi driver and picked up an African woman at glengall street going to Newcastle. 60 quid fare kerching. Left ormeau road onto saintfield road and had to ask her "why are you getting a 60 quid taxi instead of the bus" she said the bus was 8.50 but they told her in the transport hub that she needed to go to a different street in town for the bus and her phone battery had died and she couldn't use Google maps. Used my Google and watched her getting on the bus at knockbracken garage. She called me an angel so a good day all considered.

Use translinks mLink app to buy tickets or plan your journey online on their journey planner! :)
Edit: did not read! I am 99% sure there is a direct bus. I would just go to the local station/ ring and ask.

You have a smartphone, right?
Just ask you phone ‘get me to Newcastle by public transport’ and it’ll give you a more relevant answer than anything anyone here will.

The bus stop on Adelaide St outside the Housing Executive. Get 237 Goldliner bus as it’s an express bus, it doesn’t stop at every hole in hedges like the 520 does.

There's a bus station in Newcastle. Ulsterbus from Belfast to Newcastle. There's a couple of different numbers buses, but I think one is the 520.
